Ok, fair enough. But she was still talking rubbish, for the reasons outlined above!0

If its any help I find ringing the Halifax complaints line gets you a better response if you want to sort something out or clarification about your account (08457 25 35 19 office hours only I think).0

When people say SO for the transfers between HBOS accounts to meet the £1000 rule, do these have to be Standing Orders? Or will transfers done via online banking qualify too?
Currently I was planning on transferring some money to another bank and then back again but if internal transfers are ok this would be less hassle.
If anyone could 100% confirm this that would be good.
Also does any transfer between HBOS accounts work or does it have to be to a websaver and then back to the current account.
Thanks.0 -
A Standing Order is just convenient, as you can just set it up and forget about it. But as long as £1000 is credited to the account each month it will count, it doesn't matter where it comes from or how it gets there. There is nothing that excludes internal transfers.0

so just to confirm.
I could transfer using online banking, money from my current account over to my Instant Access Savings account (wait a day) and then transfer it back again.
And this would count as part of the £1000?
Seems to be quite a large loophole in the terms and conditions.0 -
Quick question (yes, I know I should read the T&C's of the a/c): When it says monthly deposit if £1000 a month, is this calendar month or every 30 days from when a/c is opened? TIA0

If you asked me to plump for one or the other, I'd say because they pay interest on the last day of the month they operate with 'calendar' months rather than 'statement' months.0 -
I recieved a letter today through the post to confirm that my 'Guaranteed Saver' account was opened and funded in the reward period and therefore qualifies for the 6.0% fixed rate. I guess everyone will get one of these. This should set people's minds at rest that they have secured the good rate despite what it shows online.0
