<post deleted as I posted this before reading the rest of the thread and findin that everyone has the same issue - stupid me!>
Basically I was just concerned that my rate is showing as 4.5% despite more than £1000 going through my High Interest CA this month since opening!
I'll wait til next month and see if anything changes0 -
To my shock, my account is called "Guaranteed Saver" and the current interest rate is listed as 4.5%!
- where do I stand??You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...:cool:0 -
No, those people on the variable rate (i.e. who did not open it during the reward period) are on 4.5% (http://www.halifax.co.uk/savings/personalrates.asp#HGS).
But, anyone who opened and funded it during the reward period is still guaranteed 6% for the year (as long as they meet the T&Cs).
My understanding (along with others) is that if you opened the Guaranteed Saver Reward account with £2500 during the reward period, you had 1 month to start funding the current account at £1000 per month for 12 months in order to qualify for the 6%.
The 1st £1000 could be deposited in the current account after the 26th Nov, when it was withdrawn, as long as it was within 1 month of you first opening the Guaranteed Saver Reward account.0 -
Chuffit! I should have read this thread first - in a rush over the fact that I believed I had til 1st of Dec to get initial funds in, then it's pulled forward to 26th I missed the chance to push the £2.5k through the relevant Halifax current account and tick the 1k this month box on the way. Of course I asked their CS if I had til month end for the current account deposit... and no they DIDN'T take the opportunity to suggest doing it the smart way. So now I have to risk bacs fund tranny to my HSBC current a/c arriving in time to do a FP to Halifax a/c before Sat!
Well, they're not advisers, they're like Carphonewarehouse salesman, who will not suggest don't buy the phone they're trying to sell you from their shop but to go to their online arm or phones4u up the street!:beer::beer:0 -
I deposited a £2600 cheque at a branch, for the Saver account on 25th Nov and a £1000 cheque for the current account on 28th Nov. Obviously it will take about 4 days to clear and be credited to the respective accounts. Will I still get 6%, though there is no cleared balance on 26th nov?
thanks for the clarification0 -

Not 100% certain on this, but based on what Halifax have done in the past you should be ok.
But it would be better to confirm with them - see http://www.halifax.co.uk/savings/savingscallback.asp0 -
I opened one of these, and was also worried about the account only showing as a Guaranteed Saver at 4.5% interest, which will probably drop tomorrow, but can see the reasoning why they do it that way.
I was surprised, though, when the letter confirming the account also said Guaranteed Saver with no mention of the Reward part. I telephoned them, and was assured that the higher interest would be applied automatically at the end of the year as long as the conditions were met. What worries me is that I now have nothing in writing saying that it is the Reward account I have opened.
Does everyone else's letter say the same?0 -

I opened a Guaranteed Saver (Reward) on 7 November - believing it to be a fixed rate of 4.5% + 1.5% reward for 12 months (as long as I met the T&C). This morning - the rate shown is 3.0%!0
-
Mine too. 3%. Still, if you stick to the terms you will get the 6%. It was never 4.5% with a 1.5% bonus. It was 6% fixed0
