Good day so far today.
Stopped smoking at 10am!
Spent 2 hours at a community litter pick with DS. (Where's my halo!)
Bought new house insurance.
Done payment a day for the price of a pack of fags.
Cancelled Halifax house insurance....they will refund to my mortgage account £208.58! Bonus!
Written a shopping list after looking in fridge/cupboard and realising I dont actually need too much.LBM 10/08 £12510.74/0 -

I won't tell a soul! lolTurnaroundSue wrote: »Well done for your progress and good luck with the smoking. Dont tell anyone but I am going for hypnosis this very morning to see if I can quit:eek: .
Anyway my reason for posting was to say not to forget to go through a cashback site, like Quidco, for your insurance and any other spending. Had £100 off car insurance this year and £65 off house insurance. Monies have all been deposited safely in the bank and have gone to overpay the mortgage.
Good luck once again, and am watching this thread as you continue on your debt free travel.
Good luck
I can't get my head around Quidco, I had some virus on pc and i'm firewalled/protected to the eyeballs now and when i read 'delete cookies etc' i just kind of glaze over!LBM 10/08 £12510.74/0 -
Hi Paybacktime.
I`m so pleased that you seem to be getting to grips with everything. It is brilliant how you have found majar savings already. Have a look at o2 for the mobile phone, as we have a modest contract and still get the benefit of 7.50 a month broadband.
I have not given up smoking, but I`m not on a guilt trip about it because I am so fed up with all the smoking Nazis who cough theatrically and wave their hands around if you are enjoying a quiet ciggie in a stiff breeze outside. I have a rule which is no smoking in the house - ever -and have applied this ever since we had children 24 years ago (and I didn`t smoke during either pregnancy either). I also have the rule no smoking at work and no smoking in the car. Another one is what have you done to deserve this ciggie? This means that on a very busy day when I have been to work and mowed the lawn, cleaned the bathroom, done some ironing, cooked for the freezer, etc I am allowed one cigarette, which effectively means a maximum of two a day. Some days it is none. One particularly energetic day back in the Summer (when we put in a new window and repainted the outside of the house) it was three. In an ideal world I wouldn`t smoke, but then I`m not sure I would like the smug clean living person I might become. The upshot of all this (in case you wonder where this is going!) is that a packet of 20 lasts me ages and motivates me to get off my **** and do something productive or moneysaving. It works for me!Debt September 2020 BIG FAT ZERO!

Fudgecat that would so not work for me. But thanks for the story.
Did my weekly shop for just under £30.00 including dog and cat food. Was well impressed. I've certainly noticed I'm not chucking away out of date food anymore.
Made a delicous homemade pizza from scratch tonight. Really tasty and really cheap.
Hopefully for the rest of the week it will just be top ups of bread and milk.LBM 10/08 £12510.74/0 -
