    Hello!

You popped up on my thread, so here I am cluttering up yours :D

I have just spent a little while reading through the whole thread, and it has been really interesting to see how you have done.

As a kinda ex-smoker (I quit on the 9th of September this year) I totally sympathise with you quitting and starting again. If you decide to quit again just pop me a PM and I can give you some hints and tips that worked for me! I think that with smoking though you have to have your own LBM - be it health, finance or whatever. A colleague of mine quit and paid for a Disneyland Paris trip with 6 months money, and that was what did it for me :rotfl:

Did you remember to call Orange and cancel?

Good luck with the staying up till midnight :rotfl:

    :xmassign:
  • Thanks for the reminder about orange! Off to do it now before i have too many vinos.

  • So it's that time of year. Looking back, making plans etc etc.

Financially I feel very confident that I am on the right track.

Other areas of my life are not so hot!

So my list for 2009 is as follows.

    1. Continue budgeting/paying back debts/being in control of money.
    2. Declutter house/Decorate
    3. Eat sensibly/lose weight/exercise/look after myself
    4. Tighten up at work and show them what I'm capable of
    5. Re evaluate my social life!

All kind of feed into each other. I know where the issues are and just need to be as focused on the other areas of my life as I have been with this money malarky!

    Happy 2009 all. x

  • Well.

Good news. The money I transfered on Christmas eve is showing. I checked early hours of yesterday so it must of snuck in some time yesterday. The upshoot of that is that I've paid off the Halifax OD:j With wftc going in too I was in credit by £200 so I've transfered £150 of that to Barclaycard.

So for the counters another £150.00 for me today.

I just hope and hope I havent done some sums wrong somewhere!

They sent me a letter yesterday saying they had reviewed my overdraft and had increased it to £2500 crazy when I only have wftc paid into it. However they were going to charge me 18.9 apr for the priveiledge. They have taken £22.19 out this month in interest. Just think how much money I'm going to save not paying that every month. As that interest payment is budgeted for it can now be used to pay some other debts.

    And finally

    BROKEN THE 11k Barrier.

    Good start to 2009!

  • Quick update.

Joined two new challenges for 2009.

    100 day challenge..no books,cds, plants for 100 days
Give up/cut down alcohol aiming for 25 AF days in Jan.
Also tracking my weight along with the gals on PAD...trouble is I dont have scales so will have to do a trip to boots...or maybe invest...I shall think about that one. Never been a slim bean but am the fattest i've ever been. Got a family wedding in June so a good incentive.

Today I have been productive...new year new start and all that (I don't really count NYD as it's always a kind of hibernating day)

Batch cooked a sausgae casserole and frozen extra portions.
    Cleaned windows
    Taken all the decs down
Thrown out 4 bags of clutter
Taken DS and dog for a very much needed let off of steam.
House is all cosy from the oven being on and I feel like I'm on a bit of a roll.

Something I read...i think on Hypnos thread.....something like....when you are in debt you feel like another 100 makes no difference when of course we know it does....I'm taking that mentality on as far as weight, clutter etc etc etc is concerned. Might actually be able to find my keys of a morning soon you never know!

Regarding another 100 not making a difference, we are about to repair our roof (quite large, old, Yorkshire slate = expensive) every time we think about buying beyond the basics I think of the cost in terms of a percentage of the roof that would pay for. It has diffently helped keep me focused.

I found the mornings are are lot less stressful if I get as much prepared the night before. Clothes laid out, lunch packed, keys, bus pass etc in a regular place saves me valuable minutes and I feel more positive to start the day.

  • How about making drawing a roof and colouring in a tile for every £10 you save.......?

A fabulously mse day. Meal planned, wrote a list and went food shopping to Lidl. Total cost £24.00 including pet food. Kept DS occupied by handing him the calculator to add up as we went round...a minor glimmer of genius as he is generally a nightmare food shopping! Made a batch of chicken curry and in freezer for another day. Tea was homemade pizza and cherry and pear crumble (ok had to go to the corner shop for flour but can't be perfect!) and Lidl vanilla ice cream in the blue box....delicous.

I am still gobsmacked I can feed us all for a week on £24. Becoming a Lidl fan 8 onions for 17p.....you can tell I'm getting excited can't you.

Determined to have an early night tonight, with a bit of pampering....Ready for the onslaught of Monday.
