Ok, so it's 2 days til the big payday. This will consist of a months pay plus 3 weeks and 2 days pay plus hopefully a tax rebate. I really dont wnat to tempt fate but I'm hoping it will be 3k or more. So the last few nights i have been budgeting. BUDGETING! A new concept to me! I have been over generous so I can cut up all the cards (actually only halifax left) and NEVER have to use credit again. Am going to set up a savings account a pay myself a monthly allowance for car stuff, house insurance, clothes, hair etc. (All those things listed on the SOA) and then draw on it as and when i need it. After 6 months I will reassess how much i pay to this account. I've worked out I need 1800 a month to cover everything (said I'd been generous) and anything else used to pay off debts. The other dribs and drabs i get to my other accounts will either stay there to pay off OD's or minimum payments on CC's. I SOOOOOOO cannot wait until Friday when I can write all my figures into my new notebook! My sealed pot is getting very heavy, so thats doing well. Now I just have to tackle all the other areas of my life! But I'll leave them til at least January!LBM 10/08 £12510.74/0

Ok so I tempted fate!
I will be getting paid (No tax rebate though) however I think Gordon Brown forgot to pass on his 'spend spend spend' message to his Local Authorities. I've been paid by councils on the Friday before Christmas for as far back as I can remember, oh but not this year. The jury is out as to whether we are going to see our pay tomorrow or possibly even christmas eve. Sneaky so and so's didnt send our payslips to school until we had broken up. Wonder if this is all councils or just mine? So my plans for last minutes bits and bobs this weekend is well and truely scuppered. Here's hoping I have enough cash for petrol to get to London on Tuesday!
If I don't get another chance here's wishing all a very happy Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.LBM 10/08 £12510.74/0 -

Love your sig Essex. My contribution to Christmas is a joint of beef from our local farm a mile up the road. Slightly more expensive but incomparable in taste!LBM 10/08 £12510.74/0

Right. Time for a big moan. Rang payroll today (I actually know the number by heart now) and told we aren't getting paid til Christmas Eve. Which is as useful as a chocolate teapot. So now have £11 in purse and £12 in bank. I refuse to use my credit card. I need petrol, catfood and was supposed to be going out on masse with my brother and kids to london on Tuesday night to see the lights. My lovely neighbour has my DS for half an hour every morning so i said I'd pay her a £1 a day, I know she is skint and as she's helping me I'll help her. I told her that I wouldnt be paid til Christmas so 'owe' her £30. Luckily she works for same Local Authority so knows I'm not pulling a fast one, but she could of really done with that cash I know.
So the government must be in really deep do-do to hold on to all our money til the last minute.
Rant over!:mad:LBM 10/08 £12510.74/0 -

I understand this isn't much use to you but for the last 15 years I've worked for the local government (various authorities) and we have always been paid on the last working day of the month even in December but as this is what we are expecting it is easier to budget.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
