Car all scratched

I would contact the police - not to try to catch who ever did this - but so they are aware, and so that it is recorded.
If 10 cars on your street are damaged, and say, only 2 are reported the police will brush it to the side - and quite frankly, it's probably because there are so many more pressing concerns for them to deal with.
However, lets say 10 cars on your street are damaged, and all 10 reported. It becomes quite clear to everyone that there is a real problem. CCTV can be put in, lighting can be put in, regular patrols can be organised, media involvement, more observant neighbours, and the idiots doing it are more likely to move elsewhere.Amo L'Italia0 -
Here's the local neighbourhood lovely just before he smacks my car with a pipe. (Face pixelated as I guess I could be arrested and imprisoned or some crap like that for putting a pic identifying him in the activity he's doing, despite the fact he's damaging my property).
You'll note he is looking over in the direction of my house before he starts to walk around the car to smack it with the pipe (although not up at the first floor window where I happened to be at the time). His house is directly behind him and when I rushed out after this his mother was there on the doorstep shouting denying he did anything (and I hadn't even said anything) - suggests to me his mother was observing or worse telling him to smack my car with the pipe, and surely if he's about to do something wrong and his parents would object, he would be looking over at his own house concerned his parents may see. (This was the first time I had rushed out, as I was fed up of this going on again and again [so there was no rushing out and kids thinking it's exciting thing going on] they were intentionally abusing my property with no reason or justification). I doubt the police would do anything if presented with these pictures though anyway. Have to put up with them messing with my car unfortunately. I don't blame it on the kids though, the parents obviously aren't teaching them right from wrong, and even appear to be encouraging them to do these things. Perhaps they think if they send their kids to do what they'd like to do they can't be arrested etc.0 -
I know how the OP feels. I have had my car keyed (scratched) 3 times in 6 months. Always right along the drivers side, from the bonnet of the car to the boot. I reported the first 2 attacks to the police, who were nice and understanding but of little help. In their words "Unless we catch them, there's not much we can do". Its cost me £800 in total to fix.
I now park my car in a local supermarket carpark over night, thats how bad its become.“Hardware: The parts of a computer system that can be thrown out of the nearest window!”0 -
A few questions for the OP:
1) Do those pictures have times printed on them, e.g. on the digital camera anywhere
2) Did you witness him actually damage your car (I guess you don't have a picture of this)
3) Do you know this person?
Definitely get them developed, or at least show the police. Believe me, about 1% of your community are responsible for 90% of crime, so the police will almost certainly know this person.
If you can confirm that you seen him damage it, then it could be a good result as it may well be proved. If not, then he'll be arrested and thrown in a cell for a few hours. Not much punishment, but it's disrupting his life, which is what it's all about.Amo L'Italia0 -

Guess it's become one of the unfortunate facts of life living in Labour's wonderful Britain. If you have something someone else doesn't they can cause whatever damage they like to it and you have to foot the bill to repair it if you want to keep it looking good. Then as soon as you catch them at the act and grab them by their ear then that's assault and you're in the slammer.
It is a case of 'I want' and will get by any means, and if can't, will ruin it for those poor hard working souls (us).Genie

Aren't I glad I don't have a nicer car. Surprised my neighbours are jealous of a 14 year old Skoda, suppose it just shows how thick they are
. Noticed there's coins collecting underneath my car, so they're obviously missing.
Not difficult to see why someone would be jealous of a brand new impreza though - but doesn't excuse the intentional damage to it. Looks like that needs a complete respray.0 -

Its got to be pure jealousy (and probably some drug or two) - you have to feel for the poor s*d that saved up and paid for it, and then to have that happen.
Its no wonder that everyone you talk to these days, really would rather live elsewhere than in this blasted country.Genie
