Did the vandalism happen on Halloween, and therefore likely to be the result of trick or treaters?
Last year, we had a hire car delivered and was parked on our driveway - some little runt decided that he will scratch the word "trick" onto it. Fortunately, it happened (and was reported) before the vehicle was on hire, so I did not have to take the rap for it.
However, since then, I have installed a set of 6 foot high gates (with spikes on the top) across the driveway and anyone who wants to get access to my property has to press the buzzer, and I can look at a screen and see who it is before I bother to let them in, or even acknowledge I am there. This also keeps down what was a never ending procession of hawkers traipsing up and down my driveway. The only downside is that I have to go outside to get my post - however, once collected I leave the bottom of the box open so any unwanted junk (pizza menus and the like) falls straight out of the bottom.0 -

Funnily enough I tried a can of Nitromors All Strip spray Mousse on a spare grille I have to try strip it back to the metal. It got rid of the enamel coach paint I had put on top of the standard car paint as a practice, but didn't touch the car paint underneath. Don't know if it's because of the old paint type used (if it is different to new car paint). It does mention something about not being suitable for use on car paint though.0 -
Gosh...cant believe this thread is still going!!
Thanks to all replies.
I did not see who did this. I checked with a local business CCTV who said only traffic they saw passing my vehicle were some horse riders, but they did not see them show any unusual sign such as stopping or looking if they had caused damaged passing my car.
I have contacted police and got an incident number. They have made some local enquiries and waiting for a community warden to contact me.
Further mad a someone said the effected car panels will probably need repainting - a job which will cost ££££'00s:mad: even though the scratches are just on the surface and luckily not down to the metal.0 -

Get another opinion first and maybe give something like meguiars scratchx a go first, then maybe t-cut if that doesn't fully work after a good few applications. If it does need spraying you can't do any more damage anyway really. If you can still see the same paint colour in the scratches (rather than primer or metal) those sort of products should work, just be careful and don't rub too hard.0 -

I would check to see if you have a company called ChipsAway near you. I can highly recommend them, as they have repaired my car 3 times. They just respray the affected area's and its an excellent job. Reasonable price as well.
Its a mobile service, so they can come out to your house/work etc.
This is there website: http://www.chipsaway.co.uk/“Hardware: The parts of a computer system that can be thrown out of the nearest window!”0 -

Was that on the tv or in the national papers? I am sure I saw that in/on one of the two.0 -
