5MP Digital Camera for £19.99 - Argos

Argos are offering the [560/3567]HP E317 5MP digital camera (£119.99) plus the [670/0373] HP Photosmart 7450 Photo Printer (£79.99) for £99.98.

When you buy the items the receipt shows the printer at £79.99 and the camera at £19.99. Whilst the camera is exempt from the 16-day money-back guarantee, the printer isn't....so you can take it back, if you want to. I bought both yesterday, and took the printer back today - and got my £79.99 refunded without any problems.

The camera lacks optical zoom, but has x4 digital zoom. It will also need a memory card; I bought a 256mb SD card from Asda for £19.99.

If you are looking for an entry level camera for someone for Christmas, I reckon that this is a good little buy. :santa2:

Found this write up basically the press release..

    and this

Seems to be very good, AF assist beam etc.. £19.99!

The optics are good, and the sensor is really 5mp, as you mension there is no optical zoom. Digital zoom just throws away the edges of the picture and makes the central area bigger so with a x2 "digital" zoom half the picture is thrown away = 2.5 MP then at X4 75% of the image is discarded = 1.25MP

I know Megapixel is not everything, and without the Zoom you get 5mp and the Optics are important also HP has greatly improved its line up in recetn years.

If you get this Camera, take the pictures and forget the Zoom. If you need to crop stuff down do this in store, or on your PC/Mac.

I would buy this camera because it does not have a zoom. Zoom lens add their own "cost" to image quality.

For £19.99 it is a steal hope my local Argos has some on offer!

For £19.99 this is a good deal if you can live with these issues.

    Great post!

PS for cheap SD try 7dayshop.com (no VAT 512SD is around £17) P&P is flat £3.95 they have great tripods, cases etc and special offer.

Ebuyer.co.uk to SD for around the same inc VAT but the P&P is free if you go for super saver delivery.

SD is a great format, small and CHEAP!

    Choose store pickup.

I tried removing the printer and the camera went back up in price.

Then I tried addinga 19" monitor but it never worked, oh well I tried. Guess you have to use the printer and send it back.
  • Good as a "out partying" camera at that price.

Sometimes not appropriate to take out the 350D.

Gosh this forum costs me a fortune !! LOL

  • Hi, I'm new on here- this is my first post so hope it appears ok!

I'm interested in this offer and have reserved it at my local store. I was just wondering if I bought them both (and a memory card to make it look a bit more genuine!) took the printer back and told them that the camera has been used, what do you think would happen??? Surely they wouldnt want the camera back and the printer isnt excluded from being returned if its unused is it???
  • Same as last year's (3day m407 and printer for £99)as long as receipt shows normal price for printer take it back etc.
you can allways get vouchers back if you returned it without a reciept after christmas.

read the long post on last years m407 and 7450 printer deal for £99 (as lots returned the printer to get £19 cameras) http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=16745

I briefly had last year's HP/Printer deal but couldn't live with the camera due to the shutter lag (actually I could but the g/f couldn't cope with it). The time taken by the camera to actually take the shot after you'd pressed the shutter was excruciatingly long. Often about a week. I hope this one's better.
