for those of you in london, here's a summary of my moneysaving adventure.

bought the printer & camera at the new oxford street store. no problems. decided to try to return straight away at another branch. the two nearest branches are on the same bus route, so i got on a bus. that was the first mistake, as london buses are a nightmare during rush hour. it took ages, but i finally made it to the camden branch. tried to return just the printer with the receipt to get cash. borrowed the 'wrong resolution' story. the guy at the store did his best i-am-paid-to-pretend-that-i-care act, but wouldn't take the printer back without the camera.

    back on the bus.

next was the holloway rd. store. this time i decided to settle for vouchers and go in without a receipt. borrowed the heartbreaking 'grandpa bought a photo printer rather than a printer that makes photocopies' story. it didn't work. the girl insisted that i contact my grandfather and get copy of his receipt to show that he had not purchased the printer as part of a bundle. left the store with the printer.

by this point my arms were aching from the weight of the cursed printer, but i refused to give up. store number 3 was in tottenham hale. long, long queue. this time i went with the 'got this printer as a birthday present' story (making sure that i mentioned a birthday date that was before the offer started). whew! the very efficient girl asked no more questions and gave me a voucher for the value of the printer within 30 seconds. bless her.

so, the moral of the story is that you should go to the tottenham hale store to return the printer, ideally at the busiest possible time.

hope this helps some of you and prevents you from having to spend a whole afternoon on this mission, as i just did.
  • Yippee just had a success.

My husband bought the package yesterday, tried to take the printer back to the store today where he was served by a right old miser who was a no go (as well as really rude and nasty). So just tried a different store tonight and they took it back no bother, so we got the camera for £19.99, just tried it and for the money its excellent, a nice little size as well.

The moral of the story I think is if you dont have success at one store try another. Oh yes and if they try to write on your box "cannot be brought back without camera" (they did at the first store) don't let them its your property they can't deface it.

I'm taking mine back on Saturday (:D), bound to be really busy so don't want a angry customer or any hassle and besides my local store now have more printers than cameras (The cameras are out of stock actually!) which suggests they are taking the printers back...

I have just purchased the printer and camera from East Kilbride, when I purchased I was told that if I was to return the printer I would have to return the camera as well, I have proceeded to purchase both and will try to return the printer in another Argos Store

Done the same but second store would not except it back without the camera
so I give the lot back as it is not a great camera and the printer is awful for £79.
