  • Well it seems longer than a week to me!!!!!!!

With regards to AT...an award/reward is definitely in order as ALL the most interesting threads on the WHOLE board were started by AT, eg. "feng shui is helping finances", "getting to know you", the mighty "selling stuff on Amazon" and many many more!!!!! And don't forget the Baileys cheesecake!!! :T

I think a lot of us echo your sentiment with regard to Apprentice Tycoon. As far as I can see, she never got Post of the Month - a travesty. This was post of the year as far as I'm concerned!

I agree, Purplepatch. A_T has inspired me to make money on stuff that I bought years ago when I didn't have so many responsibilities. ;)

With regards to Post of the Month, it doesn't always need to relate to a specific post made in that actual month. Several posters have been rewarded for making a contribution to the site over several months and have been able to win the 'post' of the month on that basis. :)

To be honest, I think the Boots freebie thread(s) will be a dead cert for the prize this month. I would recommend waiting for a 'quieter' month when all the people who have benefited from A_T's advice and support can launch a Post of the Month campaign and list how much we have gained from her advice!

That would be my approach anyway, but there is nothing to stop anybody nominating A_T this month or any month. It's always nice to be nominated even if you don't win. :)

Errrr.... yes I know this - go on, ask me how I know......

I think that maybe we should all declare our swapit names so that we all know that *our* books may be perfectly good books if you want to own and read them but if you are planning to sell them on then they should be avoided

my read it swap it name is ButteryHOLsomeness long story :rotfl:

  • Well, having read and reread these threads and collecting together my books, I am now looking to list them. Most are relatively easy to price, however one of them has only three listings between £21 and £23 but they are from the USA. Do I price mine less because of the postage ?.

Sorry if this seems simple to the folks who are knowledgeable, but please bear with an elderly greenhorn.

    Thanks in anticipation
  • Look - you've all got me blushing now :o

You've all said some lovely things, thank you, I really appreciate it.
I know that Martin has followed this thread along because he featured it in this weekly tips, not just once but twice :D the first time was when all the 'pro' amazonians spotted it and were up in arms on their forum ;) I'm still really glad that my amazon name can't be traced back to me.

The nominations I got in the summer were lovely but I'm sure that you know it wasn't the purpose of me writing the post originally, I'm just a big blabbermouth and I can't keep things to myself is nearer the mark!

Anyway - back to work for pseudopensioner

If your book is in competition with American books I'd price yours either the same or higher because a buyer will be getting your book quicker. Personally I'd pay a bit more for a book posted in the UK rather than one from overseas, you can always reduce it later if it doen't sell at that price.

I know now that I've swapped at least 4 books with you lot :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Maybe Mike's having computer problems...
  • Thank you apprentice tycoon
  • thanks to folks again re advice for amazon and what people class as 2 working days - the book in question has gone first class this morning so should be with them tomorrow if the postal service works wonders

ive been merrily swapping away too - but had my first proper dodgy swap - the book that came looked very iffy and went straight in the bin - but ive had some right corkers too - dont think ive swapped with anyone off here yet tho

Well keep an eye out for a swapper called "francesca" who is my "no show swapsie"...not 100% but think all her listings have mysteriously disappeared now. When you click the "I have a problem with this swap" button, all it does is give you their email address to get in touch and suggest you leave a bad rating if there is no response. Needless to say I have had no response so far.

But I comfort myself with the fact that I got the book for free and she'll get nothin for it on Amazon!!!!!!! Plus she'll probably get struck by lightnin' for her badness.

(BTW apologies if francesca is on here with a genuine reason for my book not arriving)

  • Just a quick update folks.Emailed the buyer who was adamant that the item arived damaged but he however declined a refund. Jumped back on the horse and put it down to experience. Started a new job today so had other things to worry about. Thanks to those of you who took time to share your experience, offer advice and help to put me mind at rest.
