    Good Morning All

     Happy Halloween:eek:

Love Halloween, we are very lucky in that a lot of people in our village take part and there doesnt seem to be any trouble.

Have lots to do today. Need to pop out and get some more sweets for tonight, also to sort out my Nans flowers. Have got loads of paperwork and the washing pile is ginormous.

We have to phone the washing machine repair man this morning, fingers and everything crossed that he has the part otherwise not sure what we will do.

OH will carve the pumpkin and I will make some soup with the flesh, think will have hot dog and chips tonight also.

    Have a great day.

  • Morning all and Happy Halloween!!!!

Aaargh, had done a post, then hit the wrong button & it vanished...

Diva, glad you are slowly on the mend. What on earth is frikadillon???
Aussie, have a great afternoon off & enjoy making things with your HM play-doh...! :p :rotfl:
    Snowy, good news, woohoo!!! :j
Sunnyday, mmm, porridge, you've made me fancy some now - with demerara sugar on! I shall have a bowl in a minute so I'm all warm & glowy before I head to Uni this morning.

Will be home to a houseful later, as DD's are having a few friends later, and my little sis, her little girl (4) & sis's BF are coming over from Bognor for the weekend, and mum will be down here - so we've all got hotdogs (with proper sausages) for supper & the kids will all be dressed up & trick or treating. It's a great atmosphere as everyone round our little group of roads does it, so the door goes non-stop all evening, but everyone really enjoys it (and I don't mind when I know it's all my DD's friends or kids they know). The older ones all look after the littlies too so they really get to experience it, but safely.
Edit: EssexGirl - hotdogs all round tonight then!!!!
    Good luck Taplady too!

Might make some chocolate crispy cakes when I get back too and even more Rocky Road, lol!!!

Have a good day all - (((hugs)))) to all those feeling snuffly/poorly or generally a bit miserable.

    Morning All

Hope you are all well. Came back from York yesterday - had an excellent time and found the youth hostel to be clean, affordable and very good fun. was our first time staying in one but will definately repeat the experience again when it's too cold to pitch a tent.

Breakfast will be porridge (no-one up yet except me)
lunch will be sandwiches and fruit
dinner will be savoury mince, veg, yorkshire pudding and fruit sponge.

Have to make bread, cakes and do some food shopping today...very cold out so will be wrapping up well.

Cat is behaving like a clingy 2 year old since we fetched her back from the cattery on our way home. She's always like this when we've been away - "talks" to me non-stop and follows me everywhere (even to the loo!)...love her to bits. Now the youngest DS is 13 she's the only warm, cuddly bundle I have!

Have a nice day eveeryone - am off to start breakfast and get on with the laundry mountain.

I can't help noticing how much the board has grown in the 18mths or so that I've been a member of the forum.

When I first started reading and posting back in July last year, there were usually a maximum of around 180 people posting at the busiest time of the day. Now its around 280 - 310 at the busiest time.

Just goes to show how many people are now feeling the pinch and looking for tried and trusted ways to make their 'hard-earned' go that bit further.

So Welcome to all the Newbies and Happy Money-Saving Old Style . Well done to the Martin and the MSE Team for starting the Board and to the Board Guides for keeping it running smoothly :T .

    Morning

It is thick with frost here today, but looks lovely

I bought a pumpkin to carve, but have realised that we are out tonight, so will ask my neighbour if she wants it - she has two small children, but not sure if they celebrate Halloween

Squiggly, frikadillon are lovely. YOu can get them from Aldi and are meatballs or burgers made from spiced meat - you can eat them hot or cold and I scoffed 6 meatballs last night watching Eastenders :o

Breakfast was mushrooms on toast, lunch today will be soup or pasta, and as we are going toan auction tonight, it will be a hot Indian for dinner :D

Feeling very OS today, so might make some bread or something equally creative :A

Have a good day everyone x

Its great to be back except the weather...its bloomin freezin....it was HOT on Majorca. Got off the plane in Birmingham Airport and it started snowing

Hope you are all ok. :D

If I remember right there was a bit of a controversy going on just before I went away, about this thread not being strictly Old Style, can somebody tell me what happened??????????

Nice to be back though, did most of the washing yesterday, just the ironing to do now, my favourite job
Braising beef in the SC for tonight with loads of veg, off to have brekkie now, a bowl of porridge, lunch is anybody's guess  depends where we are.

Well off for a quick read back while I eat my porridge, then have a shower .

    Back Later

    Morning all,

Many thanks for all the congrats for our anniv on Sunday. No-one thought it would last, I was 16 and DH 25 when we married. Have packed the case and just got to swish Stardrops around the kitchen and bathroom. Bed stripped and remade so we have fresh bed to return to. Did 3 hours of ironing last night and used my HM polish on all wood downstairs, love the smell.

Not much OSing today as we are not going to be here but at least we are saving on gas and lec and food.

Hope you all have a happy w/end.

SMOKY, hope LO gets better soon. ((((((((( gentle hugs)))))))))))))
