When companies spend millions advertising a money back scheme and then change their policy afterwards, what do they expect?
Argos is renowned for the money back scheme within 16 days. It started with a requirement of receipt and packaging, it was perfectly acceptable that packaging could be opened - without any damage off course (caused by the consumer).
What had happened was throughout years, people started using Argos as a free rental company instead of buying items to keep, they would buy to take back later when not required. Thats why Cameras were very quickly excluded from the scheme. Computers were also excluded because consumers would buy a computer catch a virus with it and then take it back believing it was Argos's fault.
I don't stick up for Argos as they should have foreseen that the scheme would be abused just like Tesco with their change of policy with their double refund if found cheaper elsewhere scheme.
We saw what happened with Hoover, with their stupid free holiday idea. I blame the companies for not thinking things through before publicising a scheme.
As Argos cannot keep their 16 day back promise, they should drop it altogether. I have noticed today they no longer broadcast it around the shop - I wonder why...0 -

....perhaps because it's now a 30 day money back promise and has been for quite some time?0
