Hi DFSD
Well done on getting the overdraft down £100. Avoiding the roads seems like a sensible option to me too. My road is really icy and I daren't risk it. So tempting though, as if I made it to the main road 200m away, it is fine.
Sounds like you had quite a day yesterday. I managed to spend 7 hours commuting which, on top of the time at work, made for a long day. I am trying not to fritter so much money, but confess to buying some warm drinks and snacks as I waited for public transport and broken down trains to be fixed...
I'm in one of those moods today where the slightest thing grates. So I'm borrowing your diary to rant! My newish laptop is lovely and much faster than the old one. But I am having some problems putting old stuff onto it because it has w!ndows7. Today I thought I would have a second attempt at installing my printer/scanner. Well, 4 and a half hours later  I have finally got it working. Had the roads been better, I probably would have gone and bought a new one to save myself the hassle! I must have rebooted my machine 20 times, each time thinking it would be working when I logged back in. The download fix took a mere 2hours and then there was much internet searching to discover than ticking a single box in the program properties made all the difference.
It may not surprise you that I made some bad gambling decisions this morning and wasted some money. Not a lot, but that annoyed me too.
I have only ventured to a food shop today for a MS. Thankfully it was in walking distance. MS took ages with a mind boggling list of instructions and questions. Good job I had nothing better to do today. Paid for the gambling error, I suppose .
Tomorrow will be a better day.

Hi all
Chocs - You're in the right place because I'm in a similar mood today...
Your day today sounds like mine yesterday! I feel for you about the laptop problems, thing like that drive me mad and put me in a foul mood! We had similar problems when we bought this laptop which runs off vista, nothing worked - including our printer which we had to replace at the time.:mad::mad:
We must be living parallel lives, because I also wasted some money this morning on bingo sites. Winning a little certainly makes me more confident/silly in thinking I can win more! Well, £20 has been wasted that way today, so NO MORE! I have closed my account on one and shall only keep the free scratchy accounts open so I won't be tempted again!
Glad to hear you got your MS done though, one positive for a largely frustrating day I guess.
I think the drinks and snacks on your journey are definitely essentials in this weather, especially considering the length of your day! I think you did well just to buy those!
It's a funny old weekend isn't it, I'm not really sure what to do with myself. I've been bored out of my mind this afternoon, even resorted to dusting the house through and cleaning the floors for entertainment! I know what it is - I want to go out and go shopping and spend money and buy lovely house things, and, and and... but I can't and I won't! ARGH! Oh, it must be lovely to not have to worry about money eh?!
Hope you have a better day tomorrow Chocs, I have no plans at the moment - but know I need to get out of the house for a while before I go stir crazy!

Marvellous. Bl00dy marvellous. Just looking up car insurance quotes as ours is up for renewal next month - cheapest is £300 with a ridiculous excess:eek:. Why the heck has it gone up?!!? And by nearly £100 with no changes?!? Grrrr, guess I know where our £110 extra from no council tax is going next month. Heck, I'm p*ssed off tonight!0

Thanks for being understanding :A.
My nice bingo wins have all been from free stakes, so I need to remind myself of this and keep away from temptation and risking my own money.
I might pop into town too tomorrow. I ordered a M and S white work shirt on the internet which was a really good price in the sale. Unfortunately, what arrived was a black and silver top in a different size, so I need to take it back! The credit can pay for the food I bought last night when I was beyond making the effort to cook from scratch.
I feel restless at the moment. I haven't got back into the routine of being at the flat and back at work. I'm one of those people who gets more done when I'm superbusy because I need to be organised. Once I have a lot of time on my hands, I just laze around and everything goes to pot!
I plan to have a look for some things to sell on Amazon tomorrow. I'll maybe do a bit of cooking too which will cheer me up. Hope you have a better day too xx.Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

Just seen your insurance post. That's a huge increase - dreadful.
I just did a quick search on line and it seems there are quite a few people saying the premiums have gone up a lot in 2010 when their circumstances are unchanged. The only firm suggested by some contributors was Av!va. If you do try them and need to buy breakdown cover, they may do a good combined price because they own RAC.
Close the laptop before you find any more bad news tonight!Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

Hope you're having a better day Chocs. I did a bit of abking to cheer myself up yesterday too, it worked, but as I'm being good ad eating healthily, didn't actually know what to do with the cakes I made!
How anoying of M&S to send the wrong thing out to you. For such a large, established company they do seem to make a lot of errors!
Thaks for the head sup on AVIVA too, I checked them out and, with the cashback from Quidco, could probably get it for the same price as we paid this past year. They do seem a lot cheaper than everywhere else! Thaks very much for that, I really appreciate it. It's not due to mid Feb, and we have the money saved, but I was really hoping it would've gone down by now.

So, I've actually made myself list the ebay stuff! I really detest doing it, but have photographed and listed 8 items, so hopefully by this time next week we'll have a few more £££'s coming our way. Nothing on there is of high value, but any little bit is better than nothing I guess. I've also photgraphed a large piece of artwork hubby has had for years that does't really fit aywhere in our house. We shall advertise it on the notice board at work and hope it sells - it's not worth a great deal but at least it will be out of our way and someone else can enjoy it.
Today has been another dull day really, although we did manage to make it out of the house. We popped to M&S and bought some meat in their 3 for £10 offer for the freezer. We had some last night and were so impressed that we went to get some more! It works out to be a saving of about £5 - £6 by buying the higher priced items, and that makes them a very good price - much cheaper than we could buy in our normal supermarket.
25p, 10p & 20p on the scratchcards today, still haven't done any more surveys.Just can't face them!
Dinner will be the roast chicken we bought at a silly reduced price of £1-something over new year and froze. It has defrosted nicely and will be joined by some yummy veg which I need to get round to peeling soon, and left over butternut squash mash from last night. Yummy.
Enjoy your Sunday everybody,
DFSD

Shame you can't pass the cakes to me! Are they chocolate
? I put some beef and vegetables in the slow cooker this morning so looking forward to that.
I wimped out on the trip into town as it is snowing again today. I think it is also thawing a bit which is good.
I have just sorted through some books. A few made it to Amazon, though I think a polite description would be that they have a limited audience. Heaven knows what I was thinking when I bought some of them. Rather more have gone into a bag for the charity shop where the postage would have exceeded the proceeds, so that will be a bit less clutter.
On to the ironing - my life is so exciting :rolleyes:Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

Yes, they were chocolate! Sorry! My exciting day included ironing too... woo hoo!
I don't blame you for ot venturing out too far - we were going to go for a walk this morning but it was so cold, we took the car out instead!0 -
Four of my ebay items have bids on already! :j That's quick! I read somewhere that listing on a Suday is always best as more people bid on things ending on Sunday.
I received a £10 bonus from the £10 cash I deposited (and lost!:o) on a bingo site the other night. I played this today and won £50, but it went back into my bonus account.I emailed the customer service dept and it seems I haven't met the wagering requirements of £100, so won't be getting any of it until I do! I played through the £50, won about £20 or so more but still don't think I met the wager requirements by the time the balance was zero, and won't be putting any more money in it! Trouble is, there's now nothing in there and I think there has to be at least 1p I there to get the free scratchcard daily. Just going to give up on that one then I think, certainly not parting with another tenner.
Breakfast and lunch are all ready for tomorrow and have got some bits out of the freezer for tomorrow night's dinner.
We've cooked and eaten our bargain roast chicken, was lovely and we now have full tummies. It feels much later than it actually is tonight, think the roast dinner has made us sleepy!
