    It's here I bought it :)

X amount = £52 for the kids [I am sure there is another text on it's way detailing what else I owe for the adults!!] - I think she restrained herself, I thought they bill may easily have run in to the hundreds!

However to add insult to injury - on Saturday whilst shopping I received a text to state presents had been purchased and I owed X amount

 I just cant believe how arrogant and forward these people are.

Are you certain your OH didn't reply to the first text without telling you?(For the sake of a quiet life?)

What a cheek for them to go ahead without agreement.

There is NOOOOOOOOOOO way I'd give them a penny piece and I applaud your meal buying decision....although personally I'd have gone for the goat.:rotfl:

£52!!! Cor. I will not be spending that much in total on all the nieces/nephews, all 7 of them!

It made me chuckle when you said that she had restrained herself this year too!!

OH definitely didn't reply to tell her otherwise [he knows better!!!] - though he is now insistent we pay up for the sake of a quiet life. Not sure why as we see them twice yearly so it would only be awkward twice a year :D

If you pay this year it will continue year after year and she may not be so restrained next time! What happens when she starts demanding presents/money for birthdays etc?

She's basically demanded money from you. I would refuse point blank. It'll be awkward once (you may not even see her at all!!!) then it'll all be forgotten/sorted.

Ive read this whole thread through and I still cant believe it!! Just reply and say youve purchased them a lovely gift which you're sure they will appreciate, as they're such nice, charitable people :D :rotfl:
  • I am so shocked by this thread, I can't believe people actually 'order' presents in this way. For me the most pleasure I get out of Christmas is researching and choosing presents that I think the recipients will love. I'd hate to be 'told' what to buy, although this year one of my nephews is saving for something expensive and has asked for money which is fine by me, although I just HAVE to give him something wrapped so he'll get a selection box too ;)
  • I think it's a form of mugging ...... I mean if someone came up to you and demanded £52 for the shopping they had just purchased your first stop would be the police.

Please, please, please don't give into your OH's wishes and give in. They don't deserve a bean and the only bean they get will be on the 70 plates of the children you/they will be feeding this xmas.
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:
