  • Hi all
Had a lovely natter with my friend & I finally managed to buy some de-icer, it's taken me all week to find some, what's the betting it doesn't freeze again here for a while now.
I also had a scrummage in the charity shops & got some more wool, way cheaper than my local charity shops.
Lol at Thriftlady & dead fly biscuits, hadn't thought about those for years, there is always something interesting in your posts.
I've just given the spare room one last polish & stacked the towels & spare bedding on a shelf in there, now I can shut the door till Monday.
    Hugs Hester

  • I am feeling poorly but pleased with myself. I am still getting the backwash of those dratted tablets. However...

I have made a really nice stew with £3 of stewing beef, on offer, some bacon that really needed using up, some home frozen mushrooms, the last of a bag of sweetcorn, the dregs of a bag of soup mix, some lentils, peppers that were past their best, the end of some celery, lots of carrots that needed using up, the end of a bottle of wine that had been frozen against this eventuality, and some onions. I have also put on the breadmaker with sundried tomato bread. As I have been feeling so woozy I am impressed that I have managed this. I am quietly confident that it will feed two adults for three meals and in an hour I shall be putting baked potatoes in the Remoska.

I also sliced up some ginger and put it in a quarter bottle of vodka and added a little sugar. I want to be able to add it to lemonade or hot water for dear heart as a warmer during the colder months. However, can anyone tell me - as I have added sugar to vodka, will it ferment? Do I have to worry about the bottle exploding? I did add rather a lot of ginger as well. I don't suppose he will mistake it for anything else!

Now I have to creep past where little bear is having a desperately needed nap, as nature is calling rather urgently, with immaculate timing!

    Hugs to all.

    Afternoon Everyone

    Its cold again here brrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Been holed up at home today trying to sort out the girls' toys as they are in danger of taking over the whole bedroom.I've binned four black bin bags full and it doesnt even look like I've touched it!But all the junk they've crammed under the futons and drawers have been removed.I feel quite satisfied with my work

The BM has been on 3 times today white bread, currant bread and pizza dough.I've just made the biggest deepest pizza ever!I proved and cooked the pizza dough in the remoska and it turned out a treat so will use it in future. It shows how big it was because four kids only managed to demolish half of it with a pile of HM potato wedges and BBs each.I'll cool and wrap the other half and serve it with some salad for tomorrows lunch

Sybil vodka is a distilled spirit so doesnt contain any live yeast so I really dont think it will explode or misbehave in any way

Well gotta go the tea pots wont wash themselves

:hello: Good afternoon! (or good evening, whichever you prefer:D )

I was trying to read the rest of yesterday's thread this morning, but the screen froze after I had had to log in in order to reply to a post. It would let me read page 2 but not page 3, or the rest of page 1:rolleyes: so I hope I haven't missed anything important.

Penny_Pincher - I hope your legs have become a bit more cooperative during the day, and that you enjoyed your holiday and were able to spend some time with your family as you'd hoped.

Betheebee - hope your arms and hands will feel better tomorrow.

VickyA - your trip to France sounds lovely, I can imagine you needed the break :D

Wannabe Sybil - what a lot you've managed to do while feeling woozy! Well done, and I hope you managed to answer the call of nature without little bear waking up. :p

LameWolf - Sausages Inna Bun! Obviously another Pratchett fan :D I bought myself a copy of Mort yesterday as hadn't read it for ever so long and it's one of the ones my DD hasn't got so I can't borrow hers. Enjoy yourselves tomorrow.

Lesley - Your girls' room sounds like my son's - and he's 23

Rage in Eden - I'm not surpried you can't stop grinning, I don't think I'd be able to either :D

We had to go down the town today, so popped into Aldi for some loo rolls while we were out. We ended up with an odd collection of shopping - loo rolls, coffee (I like their Alcafe Gold and it's only £1.49), German garlic sausage for DS (that'll endear him to his friends:D ), Frikadellen, peanut butter, pesto,Maris Piper spuds, and then when we were in the queue I dashed over and picked up a 39p cauliflower when I overheard someone else mention them. It looks a really nice one. There were meant to be carrots, broccoli, Savoy and Tenderheart cabbages for 39p as well, but I could only see cauliflower and cabbage, which is probably what the lady I overheard was commenting on.

Dinner tonight will be Corned Beef Hash (bought yesterday in case my arm was still really painful today :o but thankfully it's starting to feel better) with carrots and cauliflower.

DH and I are taking DD1 and DGS14yo to Bluewater tomorrow - DGS needs a couple of warm tops but DD is still waiting for her wages so it's Grandad to the rescue again :D

Hope everyone has a nice evening.

    Best wishes

    Hi everyone

I'm going to be really very rude and just butt in with my news.

    Dylan did a poo!!!!
    :j:j:j

It may not be obvious to everyone how this could possibly be good news - in short Dylan is a cat and he was very recently diagnosed with megacolon. Megacolon means that the colon has lost some degree of function and the animal loses all ability to expel its waste. It looked like Dylan had lost most of the function. However his little production jobbie today means that he hasn't. Ok so he's never going to be 100% well ever again - but he is nowhere near as ill as me and the vets (all 4 of them at the practice) and the vet nurses and the vet specialist in Dublin and the homeopathic vet and the members of the sick cat yahoo group I belong to all thought. I am so happy - and all because of a turd:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

It's still one day at a time but today is definitely the best day considering the worry over the past three weeks or so and that this time last week the vet was asking me to consider euthanasia.

I do apologise if you're eating right now!

Aw! You're forgiven Snowy! I know what good news that is for you! :D Keeping my fingers crossed that Dylan continues this great improvement! (((hugs)))

The Dublin specialist was recommended to me by someone in Scotland who is in the Yahoo group I joined. I did also find her myself on the internet after googling my fingers to the bone, but Liam my vet had already made contact with her and was implementing her advice.

I've spoken to my vet and he is delighted too. :rotfl::rotfl::D:D If I catch him I'm going to give him a great big kiss!!!!
