Morning everyone. DH has just left for work - he's working closer to home now so doesn't have to leave so early. He hasn't got his flat tyre fixed so has gone in my car with a firm promise to get it back to me by 11.30 once he's arranged for the chap he's working with to pick him back up. I want to go down to the village to try the new Woollies that's opening today; I have a couple of birthdays to buy for as well as a few Christmas pressies still to buy so I can use the vouchers I've been saving up.
Dinner is braising steak in some sort of casserole followed by the rest of the bread-and-butter pudding. I also want to try some of that great-sounding Rocky Road so mustn't forget to buy digestive biscuits and marshmallows.
Anyway, the housework is all up to date and I don't have enough washing for a load so I shall spend the time waiting for my car by going through my Christmas stash and ticking off the pressies I already have. I must also call in to give DGS and DGD their ghosts that I've knitted for Halloween.
It's cold today but lovely and sunny again. No sign of snow in this part of the world, though.
PenPin - I hope you feel better soon. Not long till the op and then you can look forward more positively.
Beth - wow, 40 years! We've been together 30 years but only married 14 years ago - just didn't get round to it! Have a great weekend and rest those arms, girl!
Well, see you all later.

Thanks Pen Peng for your response re the lasagne - I made it with natural yoghurt instead of craime fraiche and it worked fine. It wasnt exactly your normal lasagne anyway (surprise surprise ) it was made with chilli and tortilla wraps instead of pasta sheets. Recipe was on the back of the tortilla wraps and it was fab:j :j
nice to hear you recommend it!!!! we have those wholemeal wraps with that recipie on and were saying about giving it a go!!! i will now!!:T0 -

Morning everyone. Work as normal for me today, then preparing some things for my Gran's funeral tomorrow. Haven't even thought about whats for tea tonight, leaving that to OH.
Pen Penguin, hope you feel better soon. Same to all that are feeling under the weather.
Betheebee, wow 40 years, enjoy your anniversary.0 -
Wow! Congratulations to Bethebee and your husband for Sunday. Yesterday was our 2 years and 3 months-iversary.
DH and I came back from 3 days in France a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, we both ate far too much. The place where we stayed was an auberge with the most fantastic restaurant. Not OS, but a nice treat!
On the positive side, all the food was locally caught/produced.
OS-wise, I'm trying to make a dent in all the stuff in the freezer. I went through a period of making loads of portions of food, then buying plenty of yellow stickered stuff and now it just needs all eating up! November will be a bit of a "Store cupboard challenge" for us.
Popping out today (it is half term for me!) to meet up with some friends for lunch. Tea tonight will be something out of the freezer - probably another yellow sticker soup!

morning all
Although officially off work this week I am going to a union meeting in central this afternoon. dd(12) will have to come too and read a book for an hour or two. Lunch will be the biccies and sarnies that are provided. I will try to find something for us to do up there afterwards so it's not a wasted day for her.
so pooped last night that we had freezer Roulette for tea - it turned out to be a really nice lentil bolognaise -
have a good day especially all the birthday and anniversary girlsI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Oh er cheapskate - well thanks for the cake but my 40th was 3 years ago (but I was 43 last month so I'll take the cake and scoff it thanks!) - I was meaning the 40 years bethbee has been with her OH. Still, as my framed card of a cat on the back of a sofa eye a cake says "Cake. Always worth the risk":D I'd like to point out I'm still upset about David Tenant........ <sniffle> I'm going to have to watch TWO Murder She Wrotes to calm me down :rotfl:But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0

Morning all:j
Been up since 5 30 again with ds:rolleyes:
WM and TD on, BM on.
Just having a quick coffee before cooking up a storm in the kitchen. DS wants to do some buns and cookies and I want to do a traybake type thing which cuts into lots of chunks.....not sure what yet:think:
Also making a sausage pie for tea.
Very annoyed with Mr T this week. I had a delivery booked for between 10 and 12 yesterday. 12.10 came and no sign so I rang them.....there was some problem with the chilled items on the van so it had returned to shop.
I was out with DS from 1pm onwards yesterday so they said they would redeliver between 5 and 7.....7 came and no sign so another call....they said it would be there by 8pm:rolleyes: .....at 8 15 it arrived but they only sent a bag of fridge items, nothing else   ......I was fuming by this point having spent over 5 hours waiting for shopping and still didn`t have it.
They cannot redeliver the rest till tomorrow morning so am not impressed.
OH explained to them the inconvenience of this as DS is off on half term and I cant get to the shops with him as shops are a problem for him with his autism....luckily we have stores in but had to brave it and get DS to shops yesterday for potatoes and sausages for his tea and even the short trip for that was an ordeal for him:(.
Managed to get 20 quid evoucher off next shop but they were not exactly forthcoming with that until OH pointed out that MrS gives you 10 quid voucher if they are even 5 mins late.
On a brighter note put new flannelette sheets on the bed last night with spare duvet underneath and was sooooo cosy last night_party_
Many thanks Squiggly for Rocky Road recipe:T
Hugs to everyone who needs a bit of support at the mo.

Well, little bear completely rejected his nice ready brek for mum's bread maker bread and butter. I knew that things from mum's plate always taste nicer, so I actually used butter for him. However, the amount I managed to snaffle was a very small amount. I need to go and put on the breadmaker and the slow cooker.
I want to make £3 of casserole beef go for six portions. So there shall be veggies, there shall be lentils and there shall be a few porridge oats. There ma even be barley (which I adore). That is, six adult portions so tonight for me and dear heart and little bear having some, then tomorrow for me and dear heart and little bear having beans and sausage and at least two more portions in the freezer to take the place of the instant rubbish that has been there.
I want to have the breadmaker on twice today, once for normal bread and once for sun dried tomato bread. Last time I added the sun dried tomatoes with everything else instead of waiting for the beep and it was rather unsatisfactory.
Has anyone heard of Bodum jars? I got in a lot of Candia UHT milk. It is the milk I prefer to use in my tea, large quantities of skimmed UHT milk and a small amount of weak tea. (I am not asking you to drink it). Now, if I send some money plus some tokens I can get these storage jars. The rate is something like 20 tokens and £2 for postage for a two litre jar. Do they have a good airtight seal?
I do suspect that such a promotion is more trouble than it is worth.
Hugs to all and congratulations to Bethebee, and I am still completely in awe of what you manage to achieve. You manage more in a day than I manage in a month.
