I can't get my head around this seperating the two claims for fast tracking reasons. Surely what bills are his are yours as well and you would each have to pay half.

Me neither, I think it also depends on who's desk it lands on...maybe

    Dear

YOUR CLAIM FOR JOB SEEKERS ALLOWANCE

I am pleased to tell you that we can pay you Jobseekers Allowance from 5 December 2008.

You will get £72.15 a week.

IF YOU ARE CLAIMING FOR A PARTNER

Your partner maybe required to take part in a Work Focused Interview with a Personal Advisor once you have been claiming benefit for more than 26 weeks. Your partner will be notified if they are required to attend.

We cannot pay Job seekers for the first 3 days of your claim.
Ask us if you want to know more about this.

The attached sheet shows how we worked this out.
If you want further information please get in touch with us.
Our phone number is at the top of this letter.

The assessment is based on how much the law says you need to live on and your Class 1 National Insurance Contribution Record.

HOW YOU WILL GET YOUR MONEY

Your money will be paid every two weeks while your still entitled to Job Seekers Allowance.

We will pay your Job Seekers Allowance into your above account.

HOW YOUR JOBSEEKERS ALLOWANCE WAS WORKED OUT

This payment of JSA is based on the amount the law says you need to live on. We call this Income based Job seekers Allowance.
This amounts on this page apply from 12 December 2008.
How much money the law says you need to live on each week.
    £122.70

FOR THE ADULTS IN THE HOUSEHOLD
Living expenses for you and your partner £94.95
Extra money because you or your partner are caring for a disabled person or were caring for a disabled person until recently. £94.95

    Total amount for the household
    £122.70

FOR THE CHILDREN IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD
    £0.00

We take away £55.55, this is because of how much money you have coming in. (Carer's allowance).

The difference between these amounts is £72.15
This is the amount of Job Seekers allowance you are entitled to each week.

It includes any Job seekers allowance based on your Class 1 National Insurance Contributions.

I did wonder why they did not include children on the calculations, but this is down to CTC to deal with this, this went down for some reason, I rang them to ask why, they said it should not have, because there are no overpayments, as really they owe us, they are supposed to be sorting this out sometime this week, hopefully.;)

Maybe they have looked at the income since the LLoyds complaint and if you win on this one they will most probably think that you will have some money to be getting by on for a while. Maybe its just one case thats fast tracked. I asked with Firstplus and they sort of did get it before a manager quick but not nothing to do with fast tracking though it was just to throw back to me but that was cause I told them my time for using the courts was up in March as its 6 years since settling and I would be mighty annoyed if they messed this up by me being in the queue at the FOS. I asked that they at least confirm that this was a complaint that they could DEFINATELY look into that was all. I rang them everyday and its the same here with LLoyds too.

So you get that and then the child benefit and tax credits and then the carers allowance and disability allowance etc. What do you have to pay out of that then Di...

I worked out if we did not pay council tax and mortgage and mortgage insurance etc and then we had free prescriptions etc we would actually have more to live off than now.

I was thinking the same as you, I think its per household, maybe ??
Perhaps because of one of mine being dealt with, they have held back a bit on hubby.s  .

You have had a lot of messing about with yours haven't you?

They should really look at yours as a matter of priority in my opinion, due to the amount of times its been thrown back at you, they should keep it has the same complaint not a new one, afterall its the same reason.....

The DLA is obviously for Daniel's requirements, if he requires anything like clothes etc that is how we cater, so I get paid the carers allowance for doing this, its all paid out monthly and not weekly, so as its paid into the bank account, it all tends to be paid out on direct debit bills, most of my bills are monthly....thankfully and there is the weekly food bills as well.

DLA is not allowed to be classed as income, this is ignored when working things out.

When hubby was working for the steelworks, he brought home a min amount of £450 a week after stoppages, that was standard, anything else was a bonus, then he went to 12 hours, so of course it was a lot more then.

I think the thing is we got used to his wage, of course I have only been claiming carers for the last year, when my son was awarded DLA, I was not going to bother but it was his psych's that recommended it. x

Hopefully he will hear soon of this woodmachist job, the closing date is tomorrow fingers crossed. x

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Hi, can anyone help me please? We took out a car loan through a car dealer in March 2004 which we then paid off in December 2004. Now I wrote a letter to both the car dealer and Black Horse telling them I was trying to claim back the PPI on this policy due to: 1. Being self employed at the time. 2. I was not asked about previous medical conditions. 3. I was told that I needed to take the PPI out to get the loan. 4. I was not told that it was optional.

Now the car dealer has written back and said they will not consder any settlement due to the fact that we took out and terminated this policy befroe they were regulated.
Black Horse wrote back saying that all of this would have been discussed prior to us signing the agreement, they say they enclosed a copy of the agreement (which they didnt!) and they will not be issuing any refund.

Can anyone tell me what we should do now?

If the car dealersip were the ones that sold the policy to you then its them that should deal with this but if they were not regulated at the time then it may only be the courts that you could use to further this complaint.
