i'm relatively new to these boards, have posted before, and have a claim with HSBC and if ayone could offer any advice i would be very grateful.
When i took out my £4500 loan (interest is about 14.9% or 15.9) with HSBC they told me i couldnt get the money without taking out the insurance where if anything happened to me, the loan would be paid off. this took the total amount to about £7800, which i thought was way too much but took out the loan anyway as i needed to buy a car.
i sent off the MSE template letter around two months ago and have had two responses since. the first was a week (ish) after i sent out my letter and said they were sorry that i felt the need to complain and were going to look into my case and asked to allow them 4 weeks to do so.
I then received a second letter on the 5th of december saying they were sorry for the delay and stating that their investigations were not yet complete and asked for 4 weeks to finish their investigation.
i am now wondering what my next step is, should i wait for more correspondence or send them template number two? any advice is massively appreciated!
Thanks very much!!!
Hi there
You are entitled to take your complaint to the financial ombudsman service if the 8 weeks have gone by, some companies use these extra times for stalling tactics.
To complain to the FOS you can either download a complaint form from their site, or ring them in order for them to send you one in the post.
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm
Has the company suggested the FOS to you yet hun?
If you decide to want to now complain to the FOS, I would also write to finance company and enclose a copy of your complaint form, tell them you feel you have waited too long for this investigation to complete and have enclosed a copy of the complaint form sent to the Financial ombudsman service, this way they can still reconsider and it has been known to nudge them on a bit with a successful response, hopefully it may be the same for you as well, but to me if the 8 weeks have gone by and you have already given them extra time, then enough is enough.
Enclose all copies of correspondence with the complaint form for the FOS.
Good luck and if you require further help here just give us a yell, please keep us posted, cheers.;)

Hi everyone
Hope all are well.
Having a tea break, been dealing with Daniel and his work since 8am, he was ready and waiting at 7am this morning...... , he has all brand new exercise books and couldn't wait to use them lol.....:D .
Anyway, just to let you know the sickness claim is accepted as from October, but not just because of the depression but due to hubby's neck/shoulder problem where he was frequently back and forth for physio, as that was also noted on the doctor's disc, the back condition would not cover him as that one is pre-existing, but still cannot grumble and now its switched to unemployment as from 5 Dec 2008.
So thought I would let you know as this one was the one we were waiting to hear about.;)
Hope all are well, will read over the posts again later when I have more time.
Hope Marshallka is feeling better today.:A
Glad that is sorted for you Di, must help matters a bit. Glad Daniel is enthusiastic about his schooling, mine would be a nightmare to teach at home:eek:

I would tell them they have had their 8 weeks they are entitled to but that have passed, but are willing to wait another 7 days, if you have not heard, this will leave you no option but to complain to the Financial ombudsman service for them to investigate this for you.
The FOS link here to download a form or you can ring them for a copy

Hope they sort this out for you hun soon, any more problems just give us a yell anytime.;)
