marshallka wrote: »No, we had a boiler fitted in september and at the same time they condemned the gas fire as when rain/hail was coming down the chimney it rotted the fire casing and fumes had been coming back in. We hardly ever use it but to have another gas fire in would have been a big job as the flues etc and pipes needed changing etc.. so we got an electric fire and plonked it in the hole where the gas fire went. The fireplace was in when we moved in and was wooden type and my hubby tiled it and made an hearth and it was red brick he did it in. It is long and not tall and also has two side shelves and I hate it but would have put up with it as you do. The fire we have put in looks a slight mess as it is short by an inch or so and we have decided to knock it all out and the side boxes and then we will have to have one wall plastered. Thats one job we cannot do but everything else, the fire surround etc (unless we do buy a ready made!!) is what we can do ourselves. A nice marble one is only about £300 odd now in the sale... so maybe buy that and then its a case of plastering, analgypta and wolloping over to match the rest. We have put it off for 13 years but have always had other things more important and I want SOMETHING out of the co-op money...;) .
Maxdp, I have had an open fire before and never again... It was murder for me and this electric one means we can leave a fire guard away as the dogs tail is safe...lol
Oh that will be nice to get it all done and finished. These things go on the list sometimes don't they. You know the one LTBW (let the bu..ers wait):rotfl:
LOL Dogs tail Tee Hee:eek: Have had a small open fire since we moved in here which I love. Recently had it changed to a log burner just a small one but I can leave it running when I do school runs etc without worrying about sparks etc. Also had the walls insulated and my dad lagged the loft for us. The difference has been amazing.
Am going to send off for the SAR get all the info and send it on to our good friend to have a look over cause they are taking the michael at the moment. I do not get any reply from them or the FOS just a read receipt:rolleyes: I think they do not realise that I will not be treated in this way. I do not treat others this way and expect the same in returnDo you see what I mean Marshallka. I am all for rights and wrongs but sometimes you have to do what you have to to fight your corner.:o

(a)
You may make a further unemployment claim if you have returned to full-time employment or selfemploymentfor at least 3 consecutive months following the previousunemployment claim. However, if two periods ofunemployment are separated by less than 3 consecutive months of fulltimeemploymentor self-employment, we will treat them as one continuous period ofunemploymentfor the purposes of calculating the maximum monthly benefits payable, but nobenefit will be payable for the time in between.(b) Ifwe have paid the maximum monthly benefits for a single claim, you may only make a furtherunemploymentclaim if you have returned to full-time employment or self-employment for at least
six months.
What it is saying here (but is this what your policy says too!!) that to claim again (as you have already claimed for January, February,) you would have had to have been employed again for another 3 months from what I can tell. If your hubby went back to work in March and then went sick in July he has just made it but they would not pay out for the period when he was sick as stress/etc is not covered.
Di why was this a claim to Pinnacle for unemployment or sickness as sickness would not be covered?? Why do they want the doctors note then??
Thanks hun
He returned to work Feb 25th and it was mid of June they company laid many off, as he started new employment at the end of June 2008, there was not even 2 weeks in it really before he found this one.
Now going back to stress/depression this also depends on how they look at it to why it kept him off work sort of thing as he was prescribed meds, this is what we have on that one at home, the girl said to hubby this was why the requested for further info from the GP as he may still meet the criteria, fingers crossed. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

qualified
consultant certifies that the condition prevents you from working, or you have been referred to,and receive ongoing treatment from an appropriate medical specialist on the recommendation ofyour
doctor);I don't know of any policy that pays out for stress related illness's unless you are actually under a consultant for it and that is very different to a doctor.A doctor is not a consultant and a doctor is a not a professional in mental illness. In fact they are not specialists in anything and that is where they differ for insurance purposes. It has to be a consultant. Its the same with back related conditions, they will not pay out if you say yu have back ache and the doctor writes you a note for you not to work. They have to have a consultant in back related injurys etc to either xray or mri and then they MAY pay you. It all depends on what the condition is actually called in medical terms.backache or related conditions where there is no physical or radiological evidence (for example an MRI) of
a medical abnormality (unless a suitably qualified
consultant certifies that the condition prevents you fromworking, oryou have been referred to, and receive ongoing treatment from an appropriate medical specialist

Was your hubby referred to a consultant over the stress/depression etc. ?? Lots of people work on the meds so the meds mean nothing to insurance claims. It actually highlights the word "consultant" in the terms and conditions.
Here is what happens when you visit your GP
What should you expect from your GP?- Your GP makes the initial diagnosis and will give you advice on your illness.
- Your GP will make the decision to refer you to a specialist (hospital consultant).

Yes I was just reading on that now, although he did see a specialist at a local hospital twice, referred by the GP, not ongoing though.:rolleyes:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
