If you feel this was actually missold to you then just take a look at the link here and see what you can add and delete from the template letter. Its always best to do your own from this. There are lots of reason on there for the misselling so pick out the ones that are applicable to yours.

You then write to the firm that actually made the sale of the PPI to you if this is different from the lender and don't forget to send this recorded delivery so you always a proof and dates etc.

After that you have to give them 8 weeks for a full and final response. In this time it is usual to get a response of "sorry we sold this to you fairly" but you then respond to this and reiterate your complaint again. The next time they write they either give you a final response which you would need in order to take this complaint to the FOS or offer to settle.

    Good luck
  • Hi Marshallka, thanks for reply - I guess that the answer to your question is No as I would have declined at the time but the emphasis was on the fact that I would get back an amount after 5 yrs - was not made aware of the interest on the whole loan - I do admit to being a bit thick on this
  • This does not seem a good time for someone like me to come on to this forum with the ill feeling going on - i am not that confident in using forums or discussions. I have been reading this forum for a while and finally plucked up the courage to ask a question - so to me this just appears to be a bad time to join in, but thankyou anyway and good luck Marshallka and Di

So you are saying that this was not missold to you then?? I am confused here... If you did not understand the single premium policy that was sold to you and actually did not want the PPI (or if you had been aware of this then you would have declined) then you could make a complaint for misselling here. You should have been made aware of the fact there was interest added and that you would only get back the actual PPI after 5 years and not the interest that was added. Its entirely up to you about whether you feel that this is missold but if you take a look through Martins guide it may help you decide.

There is no need to feel like that. We all have our problems but there are various other threads for each different problem and this is for PPI reclaiming so you ARE in the right place.

I am sorry your first visit was like this xmas spice :o

Ok I hope I am doing this right technology is not my strong point.

Just wondered if anyone has had any success reclaiming from Lloyds TSB. I have put a complaint in on behalf of my husband and they just appear to be malingering and not giving any answer at all. Have had to send 3 years of statements to prove he had the PPI as they could not find this. Now they want copy of passport to show he was on working visa and proof of medical issues (it was only broken bones but the PPI would not have covered him). He still now doesn't even understand how the PPI would have worked so I know it wasn't explained to him at the time.

Been going on since October and starting to really bug me now.

On the up side I reclaimed from Halifax credit card (approx £800) and Halifax loan (approx £3000 in total) which was nice. Wish all companies were as easy to deal with as them

How long ago was it that you actually complained to them?? If its over 8 weeks ago and they still have not sent you a final response then you are within your right to take the complaint to the Ombudsman now.

29th October was 1st letter. Not sure if worth going to Ombudsman until they give me full response - or is it? They are just pain in neck at the minute

And just looked at calendar and 8 weeks not up yet but thanks anyway
