hello again just checked there website they are part of hfc bank0

Hi again, just an update on the Currys situation (this seems to be taking a week at a time between correspondence).
I received a response from them saying that they are reiterating their previous responses and that they will not comply with my request.
I contacted the FOS, and they said they can't do much either due to it being pre-2005. I'm guessing that this leaves me pretty much nowhere, other than pursuing it through court?
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.0 -

Thanks hun
Will check them out, and it may still be worth pursuing GE motors over this, as its always the ones who arranged the loan you should write to and not that of their bank.
I will check them out but in the meantime check this out here:

There is useful info on the above link I added and a template letter, write to them but use your own reasons of why you feel you were mis sold this and they have 8 weeks to respond in full.
Post by recorded delivery for your proof and to check out the timescales of 8 weeks and take it from there, so if you let us know the outcome of this we will see if we have to move on from here to the next step.
Its worth a try anyway hun, its one letter and just the cost of posting, good luck.;)

ardsleylad wrote: »Hi I'm new to this forum so apologies if this is the wrong place for this. I am following Martins advice to reclaim PPI from alliance and leicester on a loan I took out. After 1 year of payments (on a 5 year loan) I took voluntary redundancy from NHS and so I was in a position to pay off loan early (last June)which I did. I am now in the process of trying to reclaim PPI which was sold to me with the implication that I must have it for my loan to be successful.I wrote to AL 8 weeks ago and they replied that they would investigate and get back to me (a leaflet they enclosed suggested this would be within 21 days). After 7 weeks I had heard nothing so I wrote again enclosing a copy of my first letter. I have received a letter today saying that they still have had insufficient time to look into my claim and suggesting I either give them longer or go to financial ombudsman. My gut reaction is that they are simply saying go away and take matters further if you want what do you think?0

thanks for that i going to give it a go x0

Good luck, if this is unsuccessful we will see what other direction we can take from here, some companies will pay up if they were members or not but the main of them that were not covered by these GISC or FSA etc claim to knock these back, so fingers crossed, meanwhile we shall try to check them out to be prepared, again good luck and hope its successful.;)

hi i was wondering if any one can advise me on this situation.
i have a gm card for about 9 yrs i was recently going through some old statements and noticed i was paying £80 ppi a month so i contacted them and cancelled it it has now dawned on me that i never asked for ppi on the card so maybe i should claim it back would i be able to with the account being opened so long ago it is still current and the ppi was cancelled 12 months ago any advice would be of much help
If they were a bank (or members of the GISC then sometimes you can make complaints going this far back but the stumbling blocks can come if you or the business do not have any paperwork (although you say you have!!). There is one other thing - do you have the agreement too or anything that could prove you did not ask for this PPI??
They only have to hold records for 6 years but if you still have the account open or it was only recently closed then they may still have them anyway.
Just take a look at the link here and see what you can add and delete from the template letter. Its always best to do your own from this. There are lots of reason on there for the misselling so pick out the ones that are applicable to yours.
You then write to the firm that actually made the sale of the PPI to you if this is different from the lender and don't forget to send this recorded delivery so you always a proof and dates etc.
After that you have to give them 8 weeks for a full and final response. In this time it is usual to get a response of "sorry we sold this to you fairly" but you then respond to this and reiterate your complaint again. The next time they write they either give you a final response which you would need in order to take this complaint to the FOS or offer to settle.
