You are absolutely right. Why can't the FOS be more proactive rather than leave the calculations to the businesses. I am not going to accept the calculations until I can see a proper breakdown. I know I've won back ppi insurance from BH which should be a victory but I am rather saddened by the outcome as having campaigned hard for so long (12 months) it feels like it's all been for nothing if it means giving it all back to the business to reduce the cost of my existing loan.

Well done on your success. Did you end up taking BH to court?

i have decided to try to claim my ppi on a welcome finance secured loan, has anyone had much success with this company, i did try searching the site but couldnt really find much, also i took out a loan twice and both times the insurance was paid in a lump sum in the actual loan, does that make much of a difference. I think i will have a good case as the first time when i sent the form back i did not fill in the ppi bit and they sent it back and the second time i enquired about takling out separate ppi and the person in the office said it was unlikely the agreement would be processed without taking their ppi. Any info would be gratefully received, and pm's welcome.

Hi Jamie I'm currently working on Welcome - don't think there has been much success with them. I sent in my SAR request and all I received back was a list of phone calls. Rang requesting agreements and followed up with a call. Today have received a letter saying they need £1 for copy docs when I sent £10 with my SAR. Bunch of idiots!

They should send the copy agreements with the SAR so you need to tell them that they should have sent everything already with the SAR and they have not complied with this and if you do not get the rest of the things immediately you will take this up with the ICO.

Thanks I will be on the phone to them in the morning. Does anyone know if Welcome were a member of GISC?

    Hi Robbie
Yes Welcome were a member of GISC prior to the FSA in Jan 2005, so if you have a complaint with these, then go for it.;)

Yes, you have them here in that they have not treated you fairly and also your terms and conditions state otherwise. Its not YOUR fault. You need to copy this and highlight it on the copy and send it with another letter by recorded delivery.

Tell them that you are writing to the OFT who they hold their consumer credit licence with and also the FSA about not treating you fairly and also the rebate was unfair.

As regards the misselling then just pursue your complaint with the further proof.
Ocean Finance then, now Ocean Money are saying they will cancel the insurance if I confirm in writing, as they are making this request, should I send a reply about the insurance not stopping when the loan had been repaid to them or to Premier Writers Ltd who sent me the cover letter with my policy details.

Thanks Di so would I be right in thinking FOS would take this on if necessary?

You would be best to ring the FOS and ask this of them and then let us know on here what they say..;) . May help others..

I would reply to whoever replied to your last letter and perhaps send a copy to Ocean as well as a courtesy.
