Hi, I am starting to put together all my MBNA statements which go back to 2004 to the present day. All this time I have been charged PPI and now I want to claim it all back. Can anybody give me some advice, if I have ticked the original box which says I want PPI insurance included, does this mean I won't be able to make a claim?
I have nine credit cards, I think 5 of them have PPI, should I try to claim from the rest of them?
Thanks for any comments and advice.

    Hi Fluffy
Good to see you made it here.;)
Now did they tell you - you had a choice with the PPI or not ?

All because you ticked the box it does not necessarily mean you have not been mis sold.
Mine for instance, I signed mine because it was crossed there for me to do so, where then I thought it was all part of the agreement.

Check this out here which may give you some ideas

As I mentioned on the other thread if you feel these occur to you get a letter in and normally the first reply many recieve are just standard template letters they use, which mainly say "you ticked the agreement" and so on, but so what!
    That means nothing.

So check out that link and the info hun and get a letter in if you believe you have a case with any or all of your loan/credit card ppi and so on.

Keep at them and once you receive the final decision and still not successful you can then move on to the financial ombudsman service who will be able to investigate for you.

We will get to that if we have to.
Sometimes after you receive the first resonse from these finance companies they do tend to give you another chance to write back with further information, and you will know if its final because they should mention the Financial ombudsmand and enclose a leaflet.

Do you still have all the agreements ?

Good luck and let us know the outcome of this. Cheers.;)

  • Good morning folks,

I hope you don't mind but I'm looking for some advice here. As you know I have a case with the FOS re: Welcome Finance. I emailed the adjudicator who is dealing with the case and he said he is awaiting a reply from Welcome at the close of business which was last friday 7th November. I called him for an update to find out if there are grounds for mis selling. He was non commital. He basically said he reckons there are grounds for mis selling but wants to run it past his manager first and will get back to me early next week. What do you make of this? The case has been with FOS since Jan this year. The adjudicator seems ok but said he doesn't want to get my hopes up. I just want to know if his assessment upholds my complaint or not. This is very frustrating.

    Hi Di

Just thinking about the copy of the letter you were trying to get back from Lloyds. A thought is it only the paperwork that they generate that they have to keep for six years? Would they have to keep a copy of the letter that you sent them for six years? Do you see what I mean?

    Thanks Richard

PS. I have settled boath loans now in full :rotfl: :money: :rotfl:

    Hi Richard.
This will depend on the year and if the loan company were regulated and covered by either GISC prior to Jan 2005, where the FSA had taken over from there.

But many still try anyway, I have known some to be successful and some not, however, if you want to find out more, please post on the Reclaiming discussion thread, if you click on loans first, above the page you will come across the mentioned thread.

Myself and/or someone will be able to help you further here and confirm who you can try to reclaim from.;)

Hope to see you there and I shall be there at some point today.;)

    Cheers
    Di.

  • Hi

Have just found out from hubbie that we had PPI on our mortgage, mortgage taken out in 2001 and PPI cancelled late 2007, he said when he took the mortage he was told he had to have PPI in order to get the mortgage, is this right?? Also should he have been entitled to a rebate when he cancelled it.

    thanks
    :-)
