OMG I think I might have something on FF.

Look at this and see what you think:

    Pressure sales

If an adviser tried to persuade you to take out PPI by saying something like ‘we strongly recommend that you consider taking out PPI’, the sale has moved from a ‘non-advised’ to an ‘advised’ sale.

If this happened to you and you did not receive a demands and needs statement (see below), then you have grounds for complaint.

There are certain additional requirements on firms and advisers that carry out ‘advised’ sales.

With an advised sale the adviser must assess whether you need PPI, considering your circumstances and any existing insurance you might have. The adviser must also assess whether the policy, including its costs, is right for you.

I have a telephone call and he states he strongly recommends and advises taking out the ppi as it would cover mortgage payments and something else and that was it.

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo am a bit excited but will hold myself back.

Dreamer, it maybe that the poster got it wrong by quoting FSA and meant FOS.I would think if this was the case then others would have had the same reponse too but like I say, no-one else reported anything...yet!!!

If the broker said that he strongly recommends that you take out the PPI then it becomes an advised sale of the PPI but this rule of demands and needs only came into force when the FSA took over the regulation of Insurance in 2005.
  • hi. this is my first time on here, but i wud like to know if anyone can help. I am wanting to try to reclaim any PPI I am due. A few weeks ago I was contacted by an agency who said I was due this back from a loan i took out five years ago. I cant even remember about it,as i never keep any paperwork that long. Is there anywhere i can go to, to find out my past credit cards, loans etc. Ihave registered with Experian but cud not get any details. I presume it is possible to do this or how did the company find out?

    Hi Dreamer & Marshallka.;)

I have someone checking into this for me, if they have something they will let me know.;)
It seems like as there are so many complaints with these that the FSA have got more involved here.:D

    Hi there and Welcome.
If you don't mind me asking do you know who this company was who contacted you?

Can you recall on who you have taken out loans and credit cards with, and when?
Maybe you could check with the finance firm direct just to make sure.

I know with our experian report it listed the finance companies used, but cannot remember how far back this went.

    Cheers.;)
