Well I am actually thinking of getting one for Daniel my youngest son, but as he is on DLA due to his needs etc, I have a form here for family fund, I may try to get this for him on that, the fund people said he was eligible, but I have not even filled the form yet, and I know of loads of others doing the same for their kids with special needs.

Oh I am talking lappy now lol, not sunlamp pmsl.......

I was just looking through posts incase i missed any and had to read your post twice, I was going to reply saying you should get him a lamp but realised you meant a lappy pmsl :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: glad I didn't:embarasse lol

It states disabled, my son is classed as disabled not severely so at first I thought he would not stand a chance but she asked what rate he was on for DLA, I told her he had both High rate care and also has mobility as well, she said that was fine then I spoke to others of the autism sites who has kids like my Daniel and have been successful, so fingers crossed.;)

Yep I can try, I have had the forms for a while, then lost them, they have sent me more, better get them done sometime over the weekend.

Some people manage to claim lots of stuff just as long as it involves the child in need, even trampolines, some even get holidays for the whole family.;)
Wow, thats good then for you... we have got a trampoline but its only 8ft and was £90 for my daughters birthday. Worth every penny it was. (she had it when she was 8).

Have you ever had anything then for your son?? We can never claim anything and even when I was a singe parent they did not have these things. I had to work every hour just to pay the rent. It was going back 18 years.. I suppose i could have done but did not know how... ??? I think I enjoyed being debt free though more than this now. This is agonising when the roof over your kids heads is at stake.. I know we are not the worst off but I just want to be able to afford the mortgage in full and not this interest only that we have now.. Its horrible not knowing.

Here is the definition of severely disabled where your child must meet some of them in the list, his is almost all of the list here:

Family Fund definition of severe disability

To meet the Family Fund definition of severe disability, children and young people must have additional complex needs, or have a serious or life threatening illness.
    AND
There must be evidence that the child’s additional needs impact on family’s choices and their opportunity to enjoy ordinary life; and the degree of planning and support required to meet their needs is much greater than that usually required to meet the needs of children and young people.
    AND
They must require a high level of support in three or more of the following areas:
    • The physical environment
    • Education
    • Communication
    • Access to social activities
    • Personal care, supervision and vigilance
    • Specialist resources, including Information and Communications Technology, required
    • Medical or therapeutic treatment and condition management
    AND
The child’s condition must be long term or life limiting. By long term we mean lasting or likely to last 12 months or more.

Good luck with it Di, I work with kids with special needs and I really love it, but I take my hat off to you parents. I am exhausted after 6 hrs at work so I really don't know how parents with disabled children cope so well the rest of the time x
