To my knowledge I am afraid if you have made a claim it means you cant make a claim for mis selling. If you want concrete answers to your other questions, eg can you now cancel the PPI? I would contact the FSA or FOS who can advise you.

  • Can anyone advise?

We took out a loan with Future Mortgages 6 years ago and were told that the ppi was compulsory. My husband was also self employed at the time, so I don't know if he was even covered or not. Anyway I wrote to Future Mortgages and shortly after they replied that we had got the loan via a broker and to contact them. I then wrote to the broker - Greenhill Finance and have received an acknowledgement and their complaints proceedure.

So, I'm wondering if anyone has sucessfully got their ppi back from Greenhill Finance or any broker? I'm concerned that we're going to be bounced back and forth between the two companies.

Also their complaints proceedure says that they have 8 weeks to respond, I used the template letter that stated 40 days. Can they stick to 8 weeks?

The total amount is over £4k and we could really do with it right now.

Firstly the 40 days is for a SAR request. The broker have 8 weeks to complete their investigation and deal with your complaint.
I have not heard of Greenhill Finance hopefully someone else will come along who has.
Yes brokers have been known to refund PPI.
    Good luck;)

    Hi Rollercoaster.

Yes its 8 weeks they have to respond to your reclaim-complaint and 40 days for the SAR (Subject access request).

I take it you have done the both then......or not ?
The reclaiming letter and the SAR?
Or is the timescales the confusion for you for the complaint ?

8 weeks in full for reclaiming.
    40 days for SAR.

Hope this helps and it maybe worth you checking this out on the forum next to this one "Successes & failures" to see if anyone else has had dealings with these.

    Good luck.;)

(sorry Pinknico, missed your post) lol X

I dont have a covering letter but I would just write that you have not filled it in as you feel they should already have the information and that you still expect them to proceed with your complaint.

OK, how does this sound, short & sweet:

"Reference your recent questionnaire regarding PPI attached to my loan.

Please find enclosed the requested questionnaire uncompleted as I believe the details you're requesting are held on your own databases taking into account NO claim has ever been made against the policy"
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional

Found this written by Martin BOO34
Standalone insurance can be over 70% cheaper
If you need insurance, it’s possible to get similar cover at around a third of the cost, simply by buying a specialist insurance policy separate to the loan. For more details read either the Cheapest Loan Insurance or Cheap Credit Card Insurance guides.
