  • I'M DEBT FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Well done, that is great news. Congratulations.
I'm entitled to it thanks to child tax credit...

    amount?..... wait for it....
    £1713!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :eek::eek:

    Holy fcuk!!!
You know, it's quite weird. It almost feels empty being debt free. I didn't struggle for it... I have been living frugally but that hasn't really contributed to this at all.... Is that wrong :undecided

Not wrong at all. You have been given money you are entitled to, end of story. You have been living frugally - if you hadn't then the balance you paid off this morning would have been larger...so it has contributed more than you think.

maybe you should PM martin and let him know you're now debt free... you could get on IPTW again, then the world will know you're debt free ness and that will be a good incentive to stick to it......!

i know what you mean about being a bit lost without the something to aim for... i'm not near it yet but i do worry whether i will derive as much satisfaction from saving as i do from clearing debt... and then if i have savings will i beat myself up when i spend them....

Enjoy this day....! and remember the feelings!!

    :naughty:

y'know that is not the way forward....

As DD says, you could get a half decent car for £750, as long as it had a years MOT you'd be alright.... just find someone knowledgeable to come with you and don't try to be the independent female as sellers will pull the wool, regardless.

to be fair a car could cost £3000 and be just as likely to go wrong....

Be good to yourself, buy a car for you n girls, but don't buy another Rover!

    Well Done!!

You have worked bloody hard to get to today - enjoy every second of it.
I also struggled for months working all hours to pay off my debt and the last chunk was paid through a huge amount of back pay, which felt a bit weird.
Car wise, I have had a couple of cheap and very reliable cars. I had a huge Carlton estate for 3 years which cost £400 and cost me 1 tyre per year and a new exhaust back box. I only got rid because it suddenly corroded (it was L reg though) and then Ihad a VW Vento, which cost £275 and was a solid little car (grab one if you find one - it's a Golf with a boot) and I only sold on because I could afford an automatic with some of the back pay I had.

IA - I am so pleased for you I feel like blubbing...Please don't feel because you didn't struggle that this has come easy to you. It hasn't you have had that money because you are a single parent and you have scrimped and saved for the last three years.

Enjoy today and start thinking of another way to fill that void with some of that amazing creative energy you have.

I agree with Sammy - you HAVE worked for it because that money should have been yours all along and you have struggled by without it, and STILL cleared most of your debt!!
