More crap from the 'expert'

Jus how does this woman get any 'media airtime', maybe it has something to do with the picture in the article.
Who's to blame for the current problem?
KIRSTIE SAYS: Lots of people have asked me: “Do you think this is your fault?”
Well, yes – I have advocated home ownership, but I don’t feel guilty about that.
Blaming me for the credit crunch is like blaming Jamie Oliver for obesity. Yes, he has probably encouraged people to eat more but he has also encouraged them to shop and eat wisely.

I always said there was unlikely to be a property crash unless there was an unforeseen global event. If the credit crunch doesn’t count as that, I don’t know what does.
And if Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling couldn’t see it coming, how was I supposed to?
Kirsty, you said house prices only ever go up, you silly moo! If I had my way, you'd be put in the stocks and have rotten fruit thrown at you0 -
The Cream Bun refers to krusty as a 'house guru'?
I can think of a few words to describe krusty (most of them quite rude) but 'guru' isn't one that immediately springs to mind!Krusty & Phil Madoff, 1990 - 2007:
"Buy now because house prices only ever go UP, UP, UP."0 -

I think people are far too quick to blame her. It took the collective efforts of millions of people to create and inflate the housing bubble, the collective efforts of thousands of financial workers and government officials around the world, in unknowing collusion with bank customers and taxpayers around the world, to cause the current financial crisis. Anyone who tries to pin excessive blame on any one individual or group is pretty ignorant and spiteful.
You have to ask yourself, are Kirsty Allsop or whoever else you may wish to blame the cause of the crisis, or simply a byproduct of the society that caused it? Personally I'd say it's more of the latter.0 -

Regardless, I think overall its quite a sad indictment of our culture at the moment that a celebrity like Kirsty Allsop can be considered enough of an expert that people follow her advice to the point that she can be blamed in large part when things go wrong. If people slavishly follow a TV personality's advice rather than consulting a more traditional expert or *shock horror* attempting to educate and learn for themselves before embarking on the biggest financial decision of their lives, then those people are bloody idiots and richly deserve their fate. People need to grow up and accept some personal responsibility.0 -
Just to remind us the garbage Kirsty was still spouting in the Times in July 2008
"It is definitely a time to be buying"
" I think in the short term there may be a decline in prices that will affect those who bought in the past two years with 95% mortgages....I don’t think we’ll have negative equity like in the 1990s again."
Incorrigible.

I have watched it occasionally, but I don't remember her saying that exactly. But then I didn't pay complete attention to it. Are you sure she didn't say something along the lines of 'in the long term house prices increase'? Because there's nothing particularly outrageous about that sort of thing.

'bloody idiots': yes indeedy. for following the herd and taking krusty's advice.
as has been said elsewhere, the woman has no formal quals that entitle her to dispense advice on property or to justify the title 'expert'.
we can point the finger at a dozen suspects, but krusty earns the accolade of Most Hated HP Woman because of her downright dishonesty and the fact that C4 willingly broadcast it.miladdo0 -

Nothing like a good old fashioned public lynching to keep the peasants happy.0 -
when we can get mad at the slightly chubby upper class posh bird who's been lucky enough to make a few bob, eh?

er.... am I right in thinking that EAs also need to have no formal qualifications, and are pretty just second hand car salesmen/women advising you on the most significant purchase you're likely to make in your life?
She's not alone! All I seem to hear is blah blah blah!0
