I noticed on the first page someone mentioned that Lady Allsopp mentioned Libor - why do people think it has direct and immediate relevance to mortgages? The way some commentators are prattling on, you'd think it was so straightforward. This is the gist of a discussion I heard whilst channel-surfing the radio in the car:
'Libor's down again, so mortgages will be harder to come by'
'If Libor doesn't rise, the government will have to pay into the IMF to boost the economy'
'Libor's down, so mortgage rates will fall'.

As for Sarah Beeny, she showed a couple the other day (cable TV) who thought they could renovate for £15K. She told them from the outset it wouldn't work but they ignored her. It cost them three times the estimate to get it sorted. At least the woman tells people when they'e barking up the wrong tree.

i like kirsty and to be fair, no one is going to get it right all the time, not many of us on here can claim that can we? i dont know why there is such hatred towards her on here, its not her personally that has contributed to the state of the whole financial crisis. the housing market is just one part of the finances of the uk and she is just one part of a small part of the housing market

    Hi Jenner,

    You ask:

"i dont know why there is such hatred towards her on here, "

The one thing that sticks in my mind is that coat she wears with those enormous buttons ... can't get over them!

FWIW, Kirsty Allsopp is an anagram of Ask Portly Lips.

It should be an anagram of 'That Bloody Woman' but sadly it isn't.

OMG this woman is clearly mental
KIRSTIE SAYS: We are in a situation where there is enormous demand for housing and not a great deal of supply. People are not buying at the moment because they cannot get a mortgage or they think prices have further to fall.
But I am convinced that when the figures bottom out there will be a rush of people wanting to buy.
The population is five million greater than it was 15 years ago and we are building fewer houses than ever.
We live on a tiny island where a huge proportion of the world’s population want to live. We are not a giant country such as America or Spain, where they have built and built.

Do I need to repeat the same old same old supply demand argument to the nations SELF STYLED Property " expert"
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Krustie needs type 'Rightmove' into her computer, she would then see that their is 'no supply and demand' issues at all and now all the BTL speculators/!!!!!! have ran away crying to their mummies it's unlikely to change, in my area there are 280 properties for sale which is semi rural area/small town of around 6 sq miles.

If anything there certainly is a supply issue but definitely no demand
