HI, my hubby used his d500 last night and all was fine, i went to use it and there is just a bright white screen, tried turning on and off, battery in and out, charged it but nothing, just this bright white screen. It is over 1 year old, has it died?

it almost certainly needs a new ribbon cable - ive done loads with the same fault. very occasionally it needs a screen

a ribbon cable is about £5 + fitting (not easy to do if you havent done one before and easy to damage ribbon clips leaving phone scrap)

screens are expensive atm due to a shortage -about £40 + fitting

the LCD screen i mean, best i have found so far is £43 inc delivery - seems a lot for a phone thats a couple of years old !

thats about the going price for 1 d500 screen (would be a bit cheaper in bulk)
the price should come down a bit soon when the suppliers get some more.
ive brought faulty d500s (broken pcb but good screen) for £30 and stripped for spares on ebay

We get loads of requests for D500 and D600 ribbons, even the newer D900's and E900's suffer from the same problem. Seems to be inherent in recent samsung phones.

We offer a postal fitting service via our website if anyone needs any help. Example price to fit a D500 ribbon would be £14.99 labour and postage plus £6.99 for parts.

There is a good video of a complete strip down of a D500 kicking around on t'internet, I can't remember where I downloaded my copy from so you will need to Google for:
d500assembledisassemble1 its (about 37mb).

sorry to open this up again but my d500 works fine but the screen has just got really scratched up and id like to replace it... is this an easy thing to do?
