Your problem is a known issue with this. Apparently hitting it at a certain spot works (how mad is that!??). Turn the phone off, take the battery out and smack the phone on the battery side down on the table
It may be due to heat causing resistance on ribbon connection of the phone or, more likely, that the ribbon connection is just not as tightly secured as it should be given the force that closes the phone.
You could try replacing the Flexcable. That worked for another user with this problem.....

Could be the LCD screen....here's an offer for a new one...

Glad you got there in the end.
One word of warning...don't expect the problem to stay away. It will most likely return....just don't whack it too hard from now on.
Best of luck.0 -
you need a ribbon cable for a permanent fix but as phone is only 4 months old i would get it fixed under warrenty0

Can you advise me where to get a flex cable to try and sort it out as the link above doesnt seem to work?
Can i also take it a mobile phone shop to get it fitted as i am very bad with d.i.y. , electriacals etc...

Its been broke again for the last week i just keep banging it each day to get it working! i'll have to take it to a shop? does it have to be an O2 store or will any mobile store fix it? Would some mobile traders on markets be able to do it do you think even? (maybe cheaper)?0

i usually charge £20-£25 (unless it needs a new screen) to give you an idea for your local shops but im not sure 02 shop would repair it?
dont think a mobile stall would repair on the spot as its a bit fiddily but they maybe able to take away and bring back
i would try and get it done under warrenty first as its a known fault (as long as not liquid damaged) you dont need a receipt if you use crc
