Wow - I'm definitely going to try and hunt down some of the £1 miniature Moet et Chandon champagne bottles - what a brilliant bargain!

(Are you sure it's real champagne, and not bubble bath or something?!)

Yes it was real Moet champagne - just had rather a good weekend on it - there goes the Christmas treats lol.

Just went back in there today to stock up on a load more and was told that someone had come and bought the rest of their stock - over 500 bottles - dammit!!

BTW we live on the South Coast where there are a LOT of hotels and bars so wouldn't be surprised if a bar owner or hotelier or MSEr!!! has bought the lot - to sell on at £12 a bottle!

I can't tell you exactly where as I want more of them - it was cheaper than drinking lager and my partner was drinking it straight out the bottle!! :o

I found 'roasted corn nuts' in the snack section, I am hooked, I have never seen these anywhere else except Walmart in America.
    A tasty alternative to peanuts.

you can normally find these in asian food shops but not sure what orice they would be as my mum always buys mine for me.
  • There were some brilliant bargain books in my local Poundland this week. Hardback and paperbacks, well known authors. I got Jeremy Bowen's 'War Stories' hardback and in perfect condition. There was also some Freya North books, Irvine Welsh's 'The Bedroom Secrets of the Master Chefs', some Tim Pears books, Little Britain books. There were some others that have slipped my mind too.

There was also the odd decent film, the best ones were on VHS, some world cinema films including 'No Man's Land' and also VHS copies of Equilibrium and My Little Eye.

I was beaming when I left because of my bargains!:D

This weeks bargains from Poundland for me:
    • Hand Sanitiser (4 pack) - clean your hands without water
    • Compeed Medium Blister 5 pack - plasters for heels
    • Digital Thermometer - stick it on your mouth, under your arm, etc
    • Retractable USB lead - with 2 adapters to mini or standard USB

    :o

Trojan condoms - shorter shelf life than normal, but it's fun to use them up.

Durex lubricant - extremely good value.

So I don't seem like a complete tart who only uses Poundland and the 99p Stores for lewdness - other great buys over the years have been...

    1. Bake goods (loaf tins, spring cake tins and flan tins)
    2. Pottery things (teapot, milk jugs, serving dishes)
    3. Knives, forks, dessert and teaspoons - I bought packs of each four years ago and they're still going strong.
    4. Audio books (Agatha Christie read by David Suchet and Joan Hicks).
    5. Victoria and Albert stationary (made wonderful Christmas presents).
    6. Clocks.
    7. Books (a number of Doctor Who 'The New Adventures' novels, for example).
    8. Blank cassettes.
    9. Cleaning products (Cillit Bang)
    10. Wicker baskets.

    Kind regards.

  • I moved into my house nearly two years ago. As a widowed mom of four, money to decorate and carpet a new home was exceptionally tight. BUT, at our local Poundland, they had packs of stick down flooring strips that looked just like laminate flooring. I managed to do my living room, hall, and three bedrooms for about £200. Each time I went into the store I bought as many packs as I could carry, and as the staff know me so well, I told them how many packs I needed per room and they would set them aside for me. I did one room at a time and within weeks my house looked like it had expensive laminate throughout. The hallway has since been carpeted, but the bedroom floors still look fab as they do not get too much wear and it is a lot easier to clean up after the kids. A quick sweep and mop and the room is spick and span
  • I rarely check out the poundshops (weirdly the only one near me has all sorts of prices, most things are way more than a pound) as I don't find the quality to be very good.

If you do shop there, take a list of Trading Standards Recalls with you

[cannot post the link, if you do a google search for "trading standards recalls[/U]" you get to the page]

For a while 80% of the recalls were for things sold at Poundland. But the list changes often.
