Discovered Cadbury Brunch Bars in local £shop; £1.74 in Somerfield and over £1.50 in Tesco. Also Tracker bars, which are about £1.40ish normally. Always 1st quality and well inside best before date.
Last year we grew the best iceberg lettuce ever from a packet of £shop mixed veg seeds.0 -
Compeed cold sore lip plasters in store at Stratford East London. Obviously £1; £6.98 in Boots just across the way.0

Great places for taking your kids to spend their pocket money or to buy presents for their friends.
I buy Photo Paper in Pound Shops; it is actually much better quality than some of the cheaper (though still not cheap) Kodak Photo Paper.
I also buy cheap head-phones for the kids' portable music devices. I like to buy holographic gift bags at Christmas and I can usually get 6 medium sized ones for a £1.00.
Craft Kits for making your own greeting cards (4 or 6 per pack) are usually available in the Pound Shops and again these are very popular with my children and their friends, also "Craft Packs" containing various colours of card and paper and cut out shapes that provide lots of entertainment for creative kids; just add glue and scissors.
Always worth watching out for branded stuff that is factory surpliss or "end of line", such as Boots or Sainsbury's. At one stage my local Pound Shop was selling Boots' brand Baby Bottles for a lot cheaper than my local branch of Boots (identical item). :T0 -
Just one thing to be aware of with £1 shop which I noticed today.... so many commonplace high street shops are doing deals (on sweets, cling film, shampoo etc) with half price or 2 for 1 that £1 shop not always now the cheapest for everything. Yes, they're good but if watching every penny, spend a bit more time and do your homework first. Wilkinsons, for instance, had some brilliant deals on sweets and shampoo products and Tesco were selling triple refill smellies for £3 each instead of the usual £5 - £6 :rolleyes:0

The only bad buy I have found is the batteries, mine were called pifco or primepower, there were 15 in the pack for £1 , they literally lasted 2 seconds in my shaver!
I have had many bargains though, many things can be brought that would cost a fortune in kleeneze or betterware, i never buy from there anymore I always try a shop we have in my area called thing-me-bobs.0 -
My best £ shop bargain: a quartz kitchen clock just 50p (what was that about don't ask the price?) It's still going years later.
Also glass cutting boards, set of glass coasters , leather belts, candles & tea lights, tools (but not for frequent use), LED dynamo torch (saves putting the hall/stair light on when going upstairs).
Non-bargains: retracting USB cord (some devices don't work on it); neck pillow (in travel pack) - deflates in about 15 minutes.Eco Miser

Couple of months ago i bought the last 4 tins of Cuprinol Walnut Woodstain from Poundland in Pallisades, Birmingham. It was end of line product, but the equivalent product Cuprinol have replaced it with sells at £13 a litre. So got £52 worth of woodstain for £4! It'll do nicely for re-doing my garden fence next spring!0

I find that Pound Shops are the best place to buy padded envelopes and brown paper to post your ebay items some sizes 4 for a £1 thus maximising your essential profit0

Batteries in Poundland are brilliant if you buy the branded items such as Duracell, Panasonic or Sony
I LOVE PoundlandNot been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -
Hi, I was at Bognor Regis over the half term week, and found 4 pound shops!
They're good for fancy dress items, toiletries, stationery (I'm a teacher and have got gel pens and glittery pencils and candy canes for my class for Xmas). Also good for kitchen items- chopping boards, tupperware, grater...
Another good thing is the boxes of chocolates, shortbread, biscuits.
BARGAINS!! Although, after being dragged around the 4th pound shop and many bags later my boyfriend was ready to go back to the car!
