Evening all
Well yesterdays trip to ALDI wasn't too bad ....although I did get more than we strictly needed
Fresh whole milk was on offer at 55c a litre -so I grabbed 6 -well I am a "tea belly"
2 more bags of plain flour as that was on offer and will keep,
apples, oranges, grapefruits, 8 yoghurts , 2 packs of mince (mixed pork/beef), oh and got a huge salami and some smaller chorizo (don't need them yet -but will save me a journey), a bottle of red wine for hubby -€1.19 and its stunning:D , In total I spent just short of €15 ,
Dinner tonight is cornedbeef hash and dumplings :j ....
I have also made a batch of chilli, frozen half in 2 portions for hubby -then added more passata, some borlotti beans and rice to the other half and its still in the remoska finishing off -It will make 3 flasks of "chilli/rice soup" for hubbies flask
I have found out that my brother won't be over for xmas now... the flights etc have rocketed and he would have been looking at about £500  .. so he is coming in summer instead...
So xmas is just me n hubby -so it will be a really frugal one -it will still be lovely though..just nice n quiet:T
anyway I had better get off and updat my siggy...
have a great evening all:D-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

Sorry this is already a few days into the month, but I'd like to set my target at £400 again - went over again last month, but it was closer than it has been, so really trying to hit target this time! :rotfl:
Got some good deals this week, including half price bread in local bakers, whoopsied items in supermarkets & Birds Eye new chicken goujons, garlic & herb flavour, 50 pence a box instead of £1.99! (Got 4 cos DS aged 16 likes them!)
Will update sig later.
Good luck to all & enjoy the fireworks!
A x
Oops - something made me look at this again cos I didn't see my target on the list, then saw I hadn't made it noticeable - sorry, Mrs MJuly 2024 GC £0.00/£400

Did a second weekly shop at MrT, spent £44 ish but had a £6 off £40 so spent £38. Lots of meat (got 4 huge pork chops, Scottish steak mince- 1kg, haddock fillets) for half price, girl was reducing from 75% to 50% off when I passed. That will do plenty lasagnes, chilli etc (I only use local mince for mince n tatties). Also got some reduced bread, a sloppy Guisseppe pizza (pizza express) for half price, some more bread flour/mixes, baby wipes, juice, cereal etc. Prices are rising scarily but thankfully we will only need small top up's of milk (possibly the odd other small thing) for the rest of the 4 week month, so looking ok.
Hope all are well and not spending too much.

Well, I have only spent £2.71 of my £50 for the month, which sounds good BUT it was spent on a ham sandwich and crisps! Funny thing is, the sandwich will hurt my stomach as I'm supposed to eat gluten free bread, but they don't sell gluten free sandwiches in town........................but I should have taken something from home for when I get hungry.......................:o
I must try harder (am off to make a gluten free loaf in my panny for tomorrow's sandwich!)
KEEP CALM AND keep taking the tablets :cool2:0 -
£38:59 to go on the total, from just two days 'top-ups'
...it's criminal the way prices have shot up isn't it? But then one shop included almost a tenner's worth of lamb, 4 packs of ice cream bars & 2-4-£1 Elmlea.
Had a wander around MrM's yesterday & they had fresh british leg of lamb @ £4:99 per kilo, so snaffled a goodly-sized one for crimbo dinner. I think their offers run till the weekends, so perhaps you'll still be able to find one if you're interestedI usually get ox offal for Pup but it was cheaper to have pig's, so that'll have to do
Anyone know what Pinto beans are like for taste & texture? I had a squizz at the various dried pulses today & saw they are a "good source of protein"...thought they would be a good addition to our 'secret' recipes for meat dishes

I use pinto beans a lot to bulk out meat dishes and they are great in casseroles/curries done in the slow cooker. I just make sure I boil them rapidly for ten minutes before I pop them in!!
