    Hi all
Been too busy to get on recently but keeping track (will update sig later)
Mrs M £350 for Nov please

Didn't do too bad last month, went over on normal budget, mainly on treats when dh and I were away in York for 2 nights, but spent less than expected on holiday away with firends- did a big Mr T order in advance and got in plenty of stuff for cooking.

Will have a bit of a catch up with the board later!

Just popping on to put my spends so far £49.21 at Mr T. It was actually last week, but I forgot to enter it. Stupid me hadnt added it up, if I had spent another 79p or so I could have had a petrol discount voucher. As my car is a huge gas gusler I would have saved more than the extra 79p. Must watch what I am doing in future.!!

I'm getting paid on the 15th. Would be easier to budget for food on the same time scale. Is anyone else doing it like this?I did October normally as I only got my first pay on 15/9. But now I'd like to change. How do I do this, when should I start and which monthly challenge to join? Thanks for help.

    Hey Gorgeous!

We get paid mid month too but what I did eventually is do a "store cupboard challenge" (buying only the bare minimum and using up everything in the cupboards and freezer.) for about two weeks until the end of the calendar month - and then start a new month's budget in sync with the GC time frames.

It meant I essentially did 6 weeks one month but as many months are five weeks anyway it wasn't too bad. :D

  • My first post here... I've been browsing on the MSE website a while, but only just discovered this thread. I think I'm going to love it.

So, I know the month has already started, but I'm going to try to hit £250 this month. My menu planning has been challenged of late as I'm now living through the week in my flat in Edinburgh and at weekends at my boyfriend's house in the country. It all sounds glam, but both of us are in debt and need to cut our spending right down.

So, my budget is for food (for me, him and my cat) and household products. I've decided that my Boots budget is separate and a challenge too far for this month. My real challenge will be food during the day at work - I've got into lazy habits of buying sandwiches at the local sandwich shop.

Oh, and I have to ask. What is Mr T?

    Thanks everyone.

    Welcome on in :)
MrsM (or one of the guides) will add you to the budgets list soon ;).
Some people just keep their receipts to start with, to see where the money goes, and give a good idea of what budget to start from. Reducing gradually is a good idea. :)
MrT is Tesco, MrA is Asda, Mr (Mrs ?)M is Morrisons, and MrS is......you guessed it.....Sainsbury's!
Re the sandwiches, you could try making wraps or pasta salads to take, with yummy bits in, to resist temptation. There are also lunch threads (I cannot find it just now but someone might post).

    Thanks OrkneyStar... :T
My best bet for lunches is to make a big pot of soup and some bread and take that in each day. I love cooking, but these days at the weekend I usually end up cooking great stuff for my boyfriend to eat through the week, and then come home to an empty fridge for myself. I need to get better organised on a Monday evening I think!

  • Just popped in to update sig - October was way over due to having to eat out at lunchtimes - friends fed us in the evenings! So have to belt tighten again this month but with bithday and christmas cake to make, may be close. Kids are so fussy that I cna't give them soup and pasta dishes - DS cannot eat cheese anyway - so have to have some meat each meal - keep trying stews and mince dishes but they are not keen always - ho hum! But have meal planned for the month and will stick to it - have some bits in the freezer - it's small so can't do much! Great to read all the posts! Thanks for keeping me entertained and learning too!:T

Bit late to declare but put me down for £200 for November. We've spent over half already:eek:
