soappie, sounds like he needed shooting down, bet it's annoyed you a bit all the same after the effort you put in that he had the nerve to say that, cheeky oik!

No, it didn't annoy me Lil-me - just surprised me. Does anyone remember Citizen "Wolfie" Smith? well, the oik is exactly like that character. Never seems to have done an honest day's work in his life. In and out of prison for petty stuff. Always prattling on about power to the people etc. etc. He's well known in these 'ere parts and has been thrown out of many public meetings because of his argumentative attitude etc.

Hope you manage to chat with DH eventually and that he backs down from trips abroad

Did Mr T but it took me a long time - I bumped into two separate people I hadn't seen in a while and ended up chewing the fat with each of them for ages - one in the bread aisle and the other in the veg aisle!

Bedroom is done so I'm about to look up a recipe for partridge - the kids are out tonight so won't want feeding and it was reduced so that's my treat. Once I've done that I'm phoning nice neighbour and inviting her over for a G&T:beer:

    Hello all

Didn't manage to post yesterday (i don't think i did anyway) but I dead read some of the posts.

I've had the day off work today as my mum was in town. Was lovely as I went to her hotel (v posh) and had breakfast paid for by the company who brought her here, then we went on a river trip to greenwich, had a quick coffee and hot footed it back to her hotel then to the station. I only just got home via Sainsburys for top up shop which will save me doing mrT online til next weekend. Ended up buying a pair of cords and 3 pairs of jeans, though i'll take 2 pairs back. I seem to wear through them in a matter of weeks as I have rather, erm, chunky thighs and walk a lot!

We go away in the morning so I just want everything to be tidy. I'll post a list in minute but the main plan is to chill with DH this eve.

Just catching up a bit with the thread...

soappie - know just the type you mean, perhaps even the person! ;)

AnW's mum - i think you did exactly the same thing about the funeral. I wasn't allowed to my grandad's when I was about 10 (my parents were divorced and it was my dad's dad - my auntie had decided her kids couldn't go and think my dad didn't really want to argue it out with her) and I always felt a bit cheated.

lil_me - as soappie said, massive hugs and hard to know what to say. Keep us posted and we'll send big vibes your way.

I must go and chop the peppers etc for fajitas tonight. Heating has just come on so I need to move to warm up! my list for this evening:

    put clean washing away
    change bathroom towels
pack for weekend- clothes, wash stuff, camera, tickets
    S&S kitchen
    S&S bathroom
    meal plan for next week

I took Ava to a funeral when she was 3 weeks old.. she was the youngest there by a large number of years.. DS1 was the next youngest there at 14. A couple of the younger cousins (9 and 7) turned up at the pub afterwards.

    No report on todays drama's..

GIL in being taken into hospital.. as I suspected she is either going into heart or kidney failure.. I was quite 'yeah yeah whatever' ish with hubby when he rang earlier while my head was going 'ARGH!!!' .. not long for this mortal coil springs to mind..

1 'before' that which was before flylady and pigpen et al impregnated brain and memory was suitably and happily defunct.

2 'after' the cognitive process now readjusted so that now all I can (and other flyladies) do is bloomin remember everything that I haven't done!!
So looks like we need to be more positive and focus on that which has been done...:p

Was also going to add all the coursework marks and estimated grades on the exam boards paperwork but when I got to school found the paperwork still hadn't been delivered. Phoned the board who said that they should arrive Monday. I replied 'So you aren't expecting them back with you for Weds?' and the woman replied 'yes, we do'. How on earth do they expect that? I'll be teaching all day and have a revision lesson to teach after school ends so won't finish until about 4.30pm. Then even if I have all the marks ready to enter [the person who has let me down today, has half the classes that are doing the exam so will have half the marks that are needed] it will still take me between 1 and 2 hours to complete. Then I will still need to find some where to post them from......HELP/ HELP!!!!!!!!
You should be given time to do this - or could it not be done by an admin person...sounds like a routine task to me - ie not a teacher's job...

  • Hi all - juuuuuuust managed to catch up on the thread - you lot cant be trusted on your own - too much gabbing:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
    Sorry this is soooooooooo long!1
pigpen awh hugs honey you are getting a real bum deal just now - I dont know how you cope! since mil wont help - GIL is probably going to the best place is she? Thats all you need on top of everything but at least you know she is being properly cared for - but will it mean hospital visiting to fit into your schedule??
valli what lovely dreams you must have - i once dated a fireman for about 6 months ooooh makes me wobbly just to think of him!!!! You will have to arrange a small (controllable) fire and phone for the fire brigade when he is on duty!!!!!! you might even need the kiss of life!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: But what flower said is right - ask him for a coffee and a chat - neutral territory - you dont ask you dont get !!!!!
chunky hmmm i am not a bad mum, i am not a bad mum..... see it works SS has even got me saying it!!!!!! NOW LISTEN HEAR YOUNG LADY - THIS IS YOUR AUNTY TOOTS SPEAKING You are not a bad Mummy!!!!! OK???? The others have all given you brilliant advice and they have first hand experience I just see it from a no-children person point of view!!!
If you were a bad mum you wouldnt be worrying about all this carp - you have done the hard bit by admitting you are struggling and as there is no immediate/other family help available then the next step is outside help i.e. nursery - your little [STRIKE]gremlin[/STRIKE] cherub will love it and it is soooooo good for kids to become a little independent - as the nice teachers on here have already said they see the differences -ther is NOTHING to feel guilty about - DO IT ASAP!!!. (LECTURE OVER SORRY!!!!)
You Flyladies that carry on while you're ill are an inspriation! I'll continue to admire you from the sofa!!

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
OOH babes you sound cheerier - thats good - I hope you are not faking it just to get the slaves working!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

  • oooooooooooooh I cant believe it - I thought there would be another page while I was typing that lot but NO I am up to date ! phew!!!!!

I had a good day - no flying yet though - I had computer practice this morning and that was good and then took the plunge and went and had my hair cut - very short and spiky - i like it - its different. So i went and got my photos done that I need for 2 forms and the girls in the hairdressers told me that POundland had opened so I went ther!!! OOOh I enjoyed that - i have been envious of you all saying what you bought so now I can go get bargains too!!!
I spent birthday money on a pair of trousers and then went into laura ashleys 'household' sale to get another little mirror for a friend's christmas (half price at £5) but they had none left but saw a largish basket sitting on the counter which I thought was someone else's (£20 reduced to £8) and asked if they had any more but no - but the assistant said it was one of the staff who was buying - she checked and I got it for £6.40 - there was another 20% off!!! It is thick woven cane and has 2 handles on the top - a bit like an old style shopping baskey but bigger so will be great for magazines - something else to make the place tidy!!!! There is an extra20% of for the rest of this weekend - thats the end of their sale if that helps anyone!.

I wont be answering the door tonight - I used to but just got abuse becuase I wouldnt give them money - I live on the edge of 'indian territory' and the natives are not very friendly!!!!! This cowgirl will be hiding behind the sofa from the arrows!!!! LOL
