Thanks Ivyleaf, am looking after myself, cough still here but much more energy now - hopefully cough will be gone by Christmas!
Hope to see you soon, get in touch if you fancy a quick cuppa one of these days xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hi again everybody,
Prompted by a conversation I had yesterday wtih LilacLillie and by the approaching meet in Central London with AussieLass, I am tentatively putting feelers out to get an OSers gathering to visit the Ministry of Food exibition at the Imperial War Museum. Here is a link for more info:
http://food.iwm.org.uk/?page_id=70
The exhibition opens on 12th February so I think we ought to give it a couple of weeks after that to avoid the big rush.
Is Saturday (DATE AMENDED FOLLOWING ALERT FROM RZL - SEE BELOW) 27th February ok for most of you? I would like to get there fairly early, soon after opening (at 10am), hoping to avoid visiting when it is too crowded. If the weather is fine we could all bring sandwiches and flasks and have a picnic there!
Please let me know if any of you is interested and I shall book it in my diary.
Incidentally, if you subscribe to the Soil Association email newsletter (it is free) you should be able to get two entries for the price of one - I have seen the offer in the current newsletter. Hope this encourages OSers to come along! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Caterina, 26th Feb is a Friday, but I presume you mean 27th, in which case I would love to

Thanks Rzl, it is the Saturday I meant of course! Once I get a few response I shall amend the first page wiht full info and make it a firm date so people can book it in their diaries.
There is a very small off-chance that I might organise it for 27th Feb. and then not be able to attend because I am looking after a woman due to give birth on 7th March - if she goes into labour early, that's me bu**ered for the OS meet! But if I know that a few other OSers are definitely going I can go ahead and book the day, knowing that other regulars will make the new faces welcome.
OSers please let us know if you are ok to meet on that day! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
SATURDAY 27th FEBRUARY 11am - OS MEET TO THE IMPERIAL WAR MUSEUM ( LONDON) TO VISIT THE MINISTRY OF FOOD EXHIBITION
Exhibition info link: http://food.iwm.org.uk/
How to get there: http://london.iwm.org.uk/server/show/nav.209
JackieO was talking about what to do with food in another thread (the OS meet with AussieLass). I think it would be good to organise a picnic, if all of us bring something to share we could have a lovely time very cheaply and remain truly in the spirit of OS! There is a picnic room for visitor use in the museum.
If people really prefer to eat at the cafe, I think that they will be offering some wartime specialities!
Hope to see as many of us as possible there, ESPECIALLY NEW PEOPLE, PLEASE COME ALONG, IT IS GREAT AND YOU WILL BE WARMLY WELCOMED!
Please post if you are in!Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

It would mean if we sign up to email and get one free, only paying half each for the remaining one 1/4 of tkt price!
How's that for a bargain?

Yes, fingers crossed, I shall be there. Will bring a picnic I think, as last time I was there the food wasn't very nice and was quite expensive. That was 18 months ago when I met up with my nephew from Lancashire, who like me is a total history nut.
I have a lovely pink light weight dolly-trolley than my DD bought me for Christmas, so I can put my picnic in there so I won't have to carry it around.will bring fruit flask of coffee and bits and pieces.Hopefully the weather will be a bit warmer by then
