Going through the opening process with Tesco, 3 weeks since I posted the cheque. It hasn't been cashed yet. Anyone done it faster? Should I check they have received it?
The Tesco account has a ridiculously long drawn out opening process, see this thread here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=12355430 -
what do you think of the saga online top 5 tracker account
http://www.saga.co.uk/money-shop/savings/online-tracker/
I decided to open one with saga and have completed the form. They are backed by birmingham midshires
so that is sainsbury already set up seperately for dh and for me
NR e saver for me already
smile savings joint for me and dh already
and just might look into principality or bradford and bingley
I am just so twitchy now after what happened with icesave. Not scared about getting the money back but scared about having no access when needed so I want to spread the savings around better
I have a Top 5 Tracker with close to the "max" in it for FSCS purposes. I believe that when averaging the "Top 5" they do not include accounts with an offer on them. such as - 6.5% for the first year etc. The other aspect that may be a plus or a minus depending on your personal circumstances is that the interest cannot be paid back to the account - it has to be paid to your linked account. The pro of this is that once you have maxed out the account you will never go over this limit, the con is that if you want to invest the interest you have to find somewhere else to place it.0 -
Will probably transfer my Icesave regular saver money to my Bradford and Bingley account, as that's one of the top paying clean accounts from a strong company (Santander)
Not sure what's happening with the ISA money yet, if possible I'd like to transfer it to Egg I think - are they reputable and are they in a strong financial posisiton? Can't find much out about their safety, I don't want to be overly paranoid but don't want to screw up again - I don't mind waiting for my money at all like in this Icesave scenario, but do feel a bit bad that the government are having to essentially bail me out and pay the money I lost by chasing interest rates... if that makes sense0 -

I share similar feelings blizeH. I would truly like to support the Government who in effect "rescued" people like me who chased a rate. I just wish the Government would tell us how we could do more for our Country in the current situation. I would honnestly deposit money in a bank/bond or whatever to help Britain through the challenges we now face.0 -
My feelings don't go quite that far I'm afraid--I believe the government have in a way accelerated this entire process (or rather, haven't helped) by encouraging people to take on more and more credit (which they often can't afford) and have set a bad example by doing it themselves too - although I'll admit that I don't fully understand the situation, and obviously a lot of other countries have fallen into this too.0

Fair enough blizeH. I still feel that our Government has gone "above and beyond the call of duty" with KE and Icesave as far as us ordinary punters are concerned and I would like to do my two pennyworth to pay back it's support.0

I'll be putting some in my new B&B eSaver and the rest in my YBS Internet Saver.0

I asked Egg if I could do this, they replied they don't accept transfers in actually it's in the details of the ISA but I missed it !
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Egg don't allow you to transfer your previous or current tax year's cash ISA from another ISA manager to Egg, even though other ISA managers may allow you to.
