Clearly you cant read - in the article you quote:
"the spokesman simply indicated no firm decision has been taken, and no formal announcement made. He didn't say the company wasn't considering such a move. Which of course, given Microsoft's support for HD DVD and arch-rival Sony's decision to build Blu-ray into the PlayStation 3, it may well be..."
Obviously they wouldnt want to announce 'hey when Sony launches the PS3 we will have HD DVD Xboxes' because this would massively impact current sales.
Your HD DVD list is missing HP - quite an important one.
As I implied the question is not how many companies back it, but who backs it, and how much it will cost. Microsoft including native support in Windows Vista for HD DVD, versus Blu Ray requiring $30 of licensable software has a MASSIVE impact.
Also HD DVD has HDi running a Windows like interactive integration solution built in, versus the limited capabilities of Java under Blu Ray. (You can run Java under Windows but not visa versa...)0 -
richto wrote:Are you developing it then, because Sony when asked last week said they didnt yet know if it would be backwardly compatable with all games.
Oh and you realise you will be waiting until Xmas next year for it - assuming their schedule doesnt slip?
And it includes the HD DVD equivalent of a Betamax video recorder too...
And doesnt have anything to match Xbox Live.
Or the Media Centre Extender.
And will only let you play music from Sony DRM infested memory gate products
Even the Xbox 360 lightsynth 'Neon' when you play music is the <edited>...(written by Jeff Minter - Llamasoft) See http://www.llamasoft.co.uk/neon.php
"Remember what I said about Nuon and "computational resolution"? Well, without giving any secrets away and getting myself into trouble with Microsoft, I can tell you that the Xbox360 can bring to bear an absolutely *staggering* amount of computational power on each and every pixel, and never drop below 60 frames a second. The thing's a *monster*."
