I disagree, why should anyone be forced into buying the bundle when all they want is the console.
That and currys has overcharged for the console, and stating the rest of the items come free with it when they obviously don't.0 -
why?
Because its a shop. They have the right to sell anything they want. You have the right to not purchase anything you don't want.

im gonna use my right (right to disagree that is) with seanparkin. If the "suggested" selling price by microdoft is around £210 for the core box, then a reputable high street retailer such as curries should not fall into the category of 'ripping consumers' just because there happens to higher demand than supply!
i would expect that from the sellers on ebay alone..... and expect that anything purchased from such high street retailers to be at the reasonable / fair "rate" (ie the RRP) !!0 -

I dont agree with high streets charging high prices when they can... but they have been doing this with DVD's and CDs for a few years now, so nothing new... 12.99 at HMV for a chart cd is a "deal of the week"... hmmm....Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0 -

Babbler, with respect to yourself and your comment and without wishing to go too much off-topic, the price of a deal of the week at HMV is normally much less than that (£7.99 for !!!!!cat Dolls, £8.99 for Will Young etc etc), when the actual cost price is around £9 plus vat ... I should know as I am a manager ... everyone knows the supermarkets can afford to do this across the board as they make money on other products and sell entertainment products as 'loss leaders' (ie they don't need the profit but sell the product to increase turnover)
The real rip-off is greetings cards - charging £2 to £3 for a card which literally costs a few pence to make is real profiteering.
And everybody knows the same rat race happens every time a new console comes out ... but what's the point of buying an Xbox 360 this side of xmas anyway ?? The prices will drop, there will be more games out ... having said that I did pay over £300 for my PS2 when it came out first, but I didn't have a DVD player and they were expensive as well at the time.
Incidentally, if you want a core 360 system then my store has got tons of them because everybody wants the spangly one .... and we have been told we will not get any more stock of the souped up box till next easter - one hell of an egg to buy !!
Happy shopping !0 -

actually it looks like BLU RAY will win the HD format war and that is SONY`s baby and that is what will be going into a ps3.richto wrote:And doesnt have anything to match Xbox Live.
how do you know ? are you developing it ?

Betamax II (Blu Ray) hasnt won anything yet - HD DVD is at least a standard which is more than can be said for Blu Ray, and HD DVD will ship first.
Microsoft backing HD DVD means much more than anything added to the PS3. There are a hell of a lot more PCs than there ever will be PS3s - 200+ million installs of XP that will migrate to Vista with native iHD DVD support! PC suppliers like Intel, Toshiba, HP and NEC are already backing HD DVD.
Besides, Microsoft is considering adding an HD DVD to the Xbox 360. Built into the console for new models and as a plugin USB2 option for existing owners.
Not to mention Blu Ray has many inherent issues - such as poorer disk reliability compared to HD DVD, higher production costs, more intrusive copy protection, a less capable interactive solution, etc.
And it costs lots more in royalties too - so much so that HP already jumped ship and endorsed HD DVD - http://www.eet.com/news/latest/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=175004773
Sony have already stated that they will not be creating an equivalent system to Xbox Live and that internet games servers will be the responsibility of each games company. ie. no integration, no equivalent, no centralised downloads or charging, just the same crap solution as the PS2.0
