Great 1st post! Out of interest - do you have a strong prescription?Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

Poor service with GlassesDirect
I ordered a pair for just under £100 with GlassesDirect on the 28th of January and had a email on the 6th of February saying that there's a slight delay at the warehouse and should be delivered within the next 10 - 14 days. Since then I have had no emails or contact from them. Absolutely appalled by them as I saved my benefit money to pay for them as they were a bargain at the time but perhaps I should have gone to Specsavers, at least the customer service is good and I wouldn't be left out of pocket. Funny how there last post on this thread stated that good customer service is what they strive for.

Well as a happy customer of theres it does sound a bit odd, with that I have only had 4 pairs of glasses so far, if you look up on this thread there is a glasses direct rep, PM them on here and see if they can help.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

I see the top ten still doesn't include some of the real top best prices on the web (better not mention any names in case Mr Farty buglawton accuses me of spamming again).
I suggest to everyone that they do not take Martins top ten cheapest prescription glasses site too seriously, there are quite a few others out there that are genuinely cheaper than most of his ‘top ten’ when you add the extras and post and packaging.0 -
Just wanted to give a quick update.
I sent a email to Glasses Direct on Friday about the problem and they got back to me today saying that they should be with me by next week and apologised. They also issued a full refund so my glasses are completely free. Now that's customer service, shame they took so long but I'm more than happy with the end result so thanks GlassesDirect.0 -
1st time we've looked at buying specs online, after paying £280 for the last pair (high street) we figure it's got to be worth it.
1st problem, the optician, Rayners, won't provide the PD. Fixed that by grabbing the free ruler mentioned elsewhere, cheating slightly as I stood a few feet from my wife as she wore the ruler, I took a photo and took measurements from that - that way she couldn't keep on looking around confusing my counting.
The big problem we're encountering is that she has a high prescription, -8.5 on one eye, most online only go as high as 8 (we only discovered after
getting a home trial of some and trying to order them), some even stop at 5 or 6. Still, we keep on looking, selectspects seem one of the very few UK companies to provide options for us, but if anyone knows a cheaper alternative we're all ears...
While I'm here - would there be much difference in 1.67AS, 1.67 AS double concave, and 1.74AS lenses? We already guess that standard lenses would be like jamjar bottoms, but don't know if the premium for the even thinner than thin lenses is worth it.

Sorry, we can't help with @DatabaseError - I think you've already tried our hometrial before finding out about our prescription limits. Sorry about that!
We've added a page in our help section specifying our prescription limits after cases exactly like this: http://www.glassesdirect.co.uk/help-is-my-prescription-too-strong/
As for the lens types, with a prescription as big as yours our opticians would definitely recommend the thinner lenses, 1.74 lenses are up to 40% thinner than standard lenses so can really help. Also worth considering a smaller frame, as bigger frames exacerbate the lens thickness issue.
Even though we wouldn't be able to supply your prescription, I could ask one of our opticians to give you a call to talk through the lens options - no possibility of sales pressure as we can't sell to you!“Official Company Representative
