Disgusted - Ebay sellers

  • They probably do the same as I do with my makeup. If I get a discontinued line that sells really well on auction, then I usually put it on buy it now for somewhere just a bit lower that way people don't have to wait until the end of the auction, and they can buy however many they want.
I still get amazed at how people will spend two or three times the RRP of something that has been discontinued. I can understand you stick with your favourite products as long as you can, but when they are gone, like everything else you just move on !

I was like that with Lush Freeze shower gel - it is the shower gel of the Gods, but was discontinued in 2005 in the UK, and 2006 in the US & Canada. I was happy to pay £20 for a 250ml bottle as it was a luxury that I was in a position to indulge, and seemingly so were many other rival bidders.

Recently however, Lush have introduced it (albeit slightly re-formulated) into their Retro range, so when they now appear on eBay they sell for pretty much RRP - and the original formula is almost never seen now.

It's a classic example of supply and demand.

I am sorry for this rant but i am absolutely disgusted at people on Ebay and their ability to drain parents of their money on an item that could possibley be a parents saving grace.

My 4mth old son uses the tommee tippee closer to nature soothers and they have just been discontinued for whatever reason, and for those that have a stash have jumped on the bangwagon of selling them for stupid money on ebay. They are £2.99 in the shops and there are people on Ebay doing a buy it now of £18.99 with £1.80 P&P i understand those that are on auction and its upto how much people are willing to pay for them are going for silly price too.

But how can those people with buy it nows for that kind of price (£10-20) sleep at night its totally wrong to use what can possibly be one thing that can soothe a baby to their advatage its a disgrace!!

    (Rant over)

If you need to stock up this seller has them in packs of 2 for £3.95 + £1.99 P&P. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BNIP-2-TOMMEE-TIPPEE-CLOSER-TO-NATURE-DUMMIES-6-18MTH_W0QQitemZ260303802399QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260303802399&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A2%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 So that works out cheaper than in the shops.

iiee, Maybe you'd like to see if the OP would like to buy them off you for what you paid for them plus the postage.

I've got to pop to Boots tomorrow OP, if I find these on the discontinued stand I'll grab some and let you know. They did have some dummies there but I did not take a great deal of notice last time.

  • Wow! That was obviously a good price, they've all gone!

  • I'd sell one for £4000 if I could find someone stupid enough to pay it. You're not telling me a properly reared baby will know or care what brand of soother it uses, only an unpleasantly indulged one. The fault lies with airhead parents who think designer items festooned over their kids lend them reflected status.

I guess you arent a parent?

reared !!!..............It is very common for babies / toddlers to only like certain things ...........I suspect you too have your likes and dislikes

Come on claire, tell me that if you knew that the price of toilet rolls (for example) was about to quadruple tomorrow, you wouldnt go out and stock up on them and sell them on ebay?!!!!!!
