Disgusted - Ebay sellers

  • wigglebeena, are you saying that im an airhead mother that gives a designer dummy to my baby? i think you will find that these are not designer they are a type that my baby has got used to, and i have not reared my little boy like a cow im trying to bring up my little boy as best as i can and on medical advice i was told to give him a dummy.

I am sure that if there was something you used on a daily basis and had got used to it you would probably find it hard to switch over, and im asuming that your not 4mths old so you will have the brain capacity to realise that you have to deal with change, but im sure sitting down and telling my 4mth old baby that his soother is off the market im pretty sure he will not understand.

Funny enough babies are a creature of habit they get to know what they like and its hard to change things easily.

  • hopefully rover with some persistance he will get used to another type (fingers crossed) amazing what they get used to isnt it!

    Not really at all.

You just need to make your mind up about what you're going to do about it and stick to it. Otherwise you end up with the baby ruling the house and everyone else stepping in line.

A dummy is not a very difficult thing to change.

Are you trying to privately sell her some knock off TT dummies for a bargain price of £14.99? ;)

I am sorry for this rant but i am absolutely disgusted at people on Ebay and their ability to drain parents of their money on an item that could possibley be a parents saving grace.

Don't see whether they're parents or not has a lot to do with it tbh. The whole idea of ebay business is to sell stuff for more than you paid for it, whatever it is.

If we were talking about vaccinations, or something that could save babies from dying, I think tugging at the heartstrings might be a bit more successful. As it stands, you pay your money, you take your choice, really...

Well I understand why you're annoyed! I'd be pretty hacked off too.

It's not easy changing dummy shape for a baby. It doesn't mean that they are a pampered king of the house child.. they are used to one sort, and that's want they want! At that age, a baby only knows wants and needs.

My son didn't start off using a dummy ( I learnt from the angst of having to wean my daughter off hers) but due to a three week, nil by mouth, hospital stay when he was 2 weeks old.. the nurses were begging for him to have something to suck... they only had the cherry dummies and that's all he will take now. Very annoying, but with major trauma, he will not easily give them up at night (dummy free during the day now, yay)

I hope you manage to find a supply of the proper price dummies somewhere - have you tried your local pound shop? Mine always seems to sell them...

I'm sorry I am about to make a very OT statement, but I have a picture in my head now of half the regulars on here grabbing their coats and hot footing it off to the shops to see if they can track down any of these soothers.

    Doh!!!

    Rumbled!

  • Capitalism at it's most raw and reactive best, this is the kind of thing that fashioned unquantifiable growth that has created the western world that we know today. If you don't like it they're plenty of countries where you could buy from state owned, state ran and state priced outlets.

It is frustrating when they will only take one type of dummy. My daughter would only have a cherry dummy much to my dismay when Mam do such lovely designs, but once she got to about 13 months she found one of the Mam dummy's in her toybox and now she will have either.

Its not as easy to just give them something else, but if you pay over the odds now for them then the next time you need them they will be even higher priced or you will still have to seek an alternative eventually.

I had 2 of these that somebody bought me, my daughter would not take one and spat it out straight away...i only threw them away a couple of weeks back if I had them I would of sent them your way.

Have you tried these? They look like very similar teats I remember the teats were very long on the CTN ones. http://shop.lloydspharmacy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=1008&storeId=90&productId=307671&langId=-1&fromPage=Search

As already stated thats business and people are bidding over £8 for them without being forced so if you feel that annoyed then just persist with another type, after a few days he should accept the change. Personally I would try alternatives as its the only long term solution. Good luck.
