New Kaupthing CHAPS/BACS Transfers discussion - Friday 24th October

  • So I was told 24-48 hours and I'd be contacted by someone at ING, it's now three working days and I've heard nothing. No clearing bank email either.

    When I applied for the account with KE I had to personally input the number and sort code of my nominated account I just made a simple typo. which was not discovered until too late as I had never withdrawn any money previously.
    I can't remember whether or not I had to send bank statements etc on applying but I cirtainly did in order to change the number.

    I do hope my theory of not enough in the pot is wrong for everyone's sake.

    Very happy for you Ippy ... just checked and still nothing, sent emails to all of ING Senior Leadership - no-one so far responded. Don't suppose any of them are part of the "few" waiting for their hard earned savings back!!
    CHAPS requested 6th OCTOBER to HSBC Link Acc
    Transfer out 8th October - CHAPS refund 29 Oct (dated 7th Oct on KE Statement), funds into link Account 31 October 3pm
  • Just received the same email as ippylady:-

    "Further to our recent telephone conversation where we committed to providing a response within 48 hours. Regrettably I have to inform you that the recent transaction from your Kaupthing Edge Account to your nominated linked account has been identified as being held up.
    Whilst the instruction was given to process your transaction, we have now identified that the transaction has been held up at the clearing bank. As a result the payment has not yet been released and we are working with the clearing bank to release your payment in the quickest possible way so the funds are available to you as a matter of urgency".

    It now appears I'm in 'the system' - at least they're throwing me a few crumbs ....
    2 accounts:-
    1/ BACS requested 7th -left KE 8th - funds received Fri 17th
    2/ CHAPS requested 7th - left KE 8th - funds received Thurs 30th Oct.
    CHAPS fees returned 27.10.08

    Does anyone know what the definition of ‘Close of Business’ is in banking terms ?

    No - Barclays said they process CHAPS payments up until 2.30pm for that current day for them to appear in the account, but they can show anytime after that - so it may be, like all the other times, money will just filter across for a couple of hours or so.

    Good luck Zaphod, Fury, Caretaker, Haider and all of you, it can't be much longer now surely?
  • I've just called K.E. again, pretty pointless I know but better than sitting here hitting the refresh button on my linked account... It started that I will get an email or call today and then finsihed I should once she realised it was already 4pm... more bulls**t.

    I'm going nuts but really pleased some of you guys have been put out of your misery today.

    I LOGGED MY MISSING MONEY WITH ING ON FRIDAY LAST WEEK, JUST PHONED AGAIN AND THEY HAD NO RECORD OF MY CALL.

    Please make sure you call ING and ask for a search to be instigated. IF YOU PHONED LAST WEEK THEN PHONE AGAIN TODAY.
