  • I wrote to Ernst and Young about 5 weeks ago asking them to expedite the retrieval my money. To their credit they wrote back saying that I could refer it to the FOS after 8 weeks if nothing had happened. I then wrote to the FOS logging the matter only to receive a letter last week saying that they could not persure complaints against administrators, strange as E&Y suggested I did just that. Today I received an e mail from the FOS in reply to an e mail of mine asking if I would have to wait a further 8 weeks from logging the complaint with them, saying that after 8 weeks from the date of my letter to E&Y that they would follow my complaint up. How mad is that?

Hopefully I will not have to go down that route as I have received a reverse payment for the bulk of my money back to my KE account just a smaller amount still outstanding from a separate transaction on the 7th of October. If it doesn't show in a week I think I'll donate it to Martin's champagne fund.

I've been perplexed by this Ernst & young administrator business; could someone clarify?

Kaupthing, Singer & Friedlander went into administration, so that I understand, but as far as I was aware, that never happened to Kaupthing Edge, as they were sold to ING.

Did they go into administration? Is that why Ernst & Young are involved?

UnhappyHarry.........I can only speak from my postition. My money was withdrawn from KE on October 7th before KSF went bust and of course KE were a part of KSF at that time. THe UK government froze all Icelandic transactions around that time, thus, because there would not have been time for my money to reach it's destination, it became lost in the ether falling under the auspice of K&E. Alister Darling's proposal to ING to take over the accounts could have been a godsend or a source of frustration depending on what happened to the individual. Many posters on this thread now reunited with their money after quite a wait were told that the hold up was because of the administrators, maybe yes maybe no.
  • Cherio chaps, thanks for all the support.
  • Hi 2little2late - I do hope this means you have your money sorted out now - and hope the other 2 on the list are also sorted. Here's to 2009 being a more settled year for us all.
KE veteran - life seemed so much simpler then!

    Thanks NS5

Got my considerable amount back just owed £136.00 which I am assured will appear, not too fussed though.

Happier new year to us all.
