New Kaupthing CHAPS/BACS Transfers discussion - Friday 24th October

Just checked my linked account.....and the money is there !!!!! What a relief.

Good luck to the others who are still waiting. I hope this nightmare is over for everyone by the end of the day.

I am not sure if this will help but here goes.
I sent a recorded delivery letter on the 06/10/08. Heard nothing until 14/10/08, this was by phone. The question he had was "do you still want to close your account" me-yes and transfer my funds to designated bank.
He "we can't do that, the fixed will be unfixed and added to your account, it will take a few days,then you can transfer it".
I waited a week then rang-and rang-and you know how long it takes, finally a voice says I had been informed wrongly and would need to close my account.

Did that and she says "it will be returned to your designated account in a few days, keep checking".

One week later-nothing so rang again-could not get through. So I checked the Kaupthing account and there it was-still there-but ready to transfer.

So the original guy was correct and she was wrong. So I transfered it by chaps on the 28/10/08 and it was in my account last evening 30/10/08.

It may only be coincedence but I had earlier that day emailed 7 of the addresses given on this site and surprisingly customer services was the only one to reply, with words like 'trying to sort it'.
One can only summise he was contacted by someone higher up the tree.
I had included the CEO and FDO. Like I said maybe just a coincidence?

I hope all of you still waiting get some hope from this, of course our next problem is getting it re-invested in another account before they reduce interest rates. everyone and his dog seem to be shouting for this.

Money just arrived... what an enormous relief. :j

Can finally get on with studying for my postgrad exams in 2 weeks - this week has been a write off.

Thanks to all for the support. Fingers remaining firmly crossed for the rest. Many thanks to the various list keepers - all much appreciated.

The more the better, partners etc.... that have been affected by this. If you have your money but want to protest at the way you have been treated by ING Direct then get down there aswell please. Hopefully we can keep a reasonable presence up throughout the day and get the required media attention...... Martin, any help you can give on the day by getting media awareness of this event would be greatly appreciated.

One thing might help - send email to Mr Alastair Hemmings [EMAIL="alastair.hemmings@ingdirect.co.uk"]alastair.hemmings@ingdirect.co.uk[/EMAIL] as that was what eventually worked for me I am sure. His first email said I would hear "shortly" and as I hadn't heard within 24 hours I wrote again ..... RESULT, I heard two hours later and it was good news so you could give it a try.

Woo-hoo!

The money's finally arrived, though I'm not sure I believe it yet - I've been checking several times a day for the last 3 weeks and have been resigned to seeing our account drained.

If there's one up-side to all of this, I've lost several pounds in weight (though this is balanced out by the huge increase in grey hair).

Many thanks to all who've given moral support, and those who've been more active - your help has been very much appreciated.

I think I would probably assume I was seeing things if it was there...I'm going competely bananas. Mental cruelty!
