Also, is the version of X-Tenmate on the Yealink site actually the latest version ?
I never new about the Voipstunt thing, will have to give it a try, so you saying you dont need to buy credit for unlimted calling?

The website says 5 Euro credit required for calls over 1 min but in practice long calls are possible: certainly to the UK and Germany. I haven't tried an exhaustive test but have done 5 mins+ with no problem. Have seen reports of 10 mins+. I guess if there is no cut-off there is no cut-off so any length will work until it is corrected.

PS - This allows UK 0845 calls (unusual for any free service) but not 0870 calls.

X-Lite certainly works with Voipstunt using the screen/keyboard. Will try and experiment with the Telbox at home in the next day or two.

    For eilz, Virtual pstn.

    47b6df39b3127cce96a5987b39e400000010101AcuGbds3YsbNeeds a box 4" x 4".

    To use,
lift receiver ( ie off hook), press button switch ( push to make), at same time dial * then leave go of push button. usb clicks into action and call is ok. Batteries should have long life as they only have to supply 35 ma for a couple of seconds.

My phone rings with sipgate but not voip buster, but voice is like Stan Colliers duff microphone.
Sorry for delay with photo. If I said Bardwells would you know what I meant, or Abbeydale Road?

I've bought the Aria box after reading this thread, and I've now read it again to find out why it's not working. The unit came with two cables: one for the USB and one to plug into the phone itself. Both those 'fitted' fine.

I wasn't sure if it should have a 3rd cable with it. I already had a cable that plugged into the phone at one end and the phone socket at the other end. And that seems to 'fit' fine. It looks like this although obviously I don't know what spec it is ...

So, I've had a look at the Maplin site to see if I can work out what exactly I need to go and buy (I can get to Maplin in my lunch hour!) but I can't see anything different to what I've already got that's going to fit.

Could someone please tell me either what I need from Maplin or what to ask for if I go in to any other shop? I'm sorry to be dense but I'm trying to get things set up at work, and I'm the techiest one here ...

Oh, and when I HAVE got that elusive adapter / cable, does anyone know if it will work on a Telewest line? I have tried it on the BT line but no better there ...

    Thanks!

Been using Skype so far, but haven't tried with a DECT phone. Not sure why that should make a difference?

    Thanks anyway ...

Try a DECT phone it should work, I had a problem with using other phones also. I am limited in telephone knowledge, but I believe a DECT phone work because its digital (i maybe wrong), the lead you brought is prob for a analogu phone, you need something like this :

    (prob get it cheaper elsewhere)

OK, I can't get at the DECT phone to try it at the mo, so will have to wait until Monday to play again.

If that doesn't work, that socket thingy you posted link to: would that go at the phone end? Can't see anything like it in Maplin but if I was more confident about what I was looking for I'd go in there and ask, or even brave Staples ... Beginning to HATE technology ...

I'll have a look again at my box and give you an update. I belive there an option to set the box to use USB from within skype, although I dont use skype. Are any of the led lights coming on, when connected to USB? R u connecting the box striaght into a USB connection or a hub, (if a hub, is it power controlled?)

When you plug the device to the usb you should see either the USB or PSTN led light on.

With all the home brew solutions posted here people might be like to consider linking a sound card to as dect phone, there is also a hack so the DECT phone rings on incoming calls.

Not tried it myself as BE my new ADSL provider is sending out a modem with 2 ATA built in! 22meg ADSL and all for £20 per month :)

System (the revison3 TV legally downloadable from revision3.com) has an ephisode on Asterix (a PABX) on a PC. This requires a dedicated PC and will reformat your HD so not for beginners but a very cheap way of getting into VOIP. Worth watching the video just to see what is possible!
