Yep, I had this problem too - someone on the aria site has also mentioned this in a review - you need a 'BT to RJ11 converter' apparently - found one online at MKCables, but hasn't been delivered yet due to Xmas post probably.

    1 5m BT (6P4C) plug to RJ11 cables (Pack) MKTELC005PK £1.88
BT plug to RJ11 socket adapter MKTELA030 £0.70 (Inc VAT)

    http://www.mkcables.com/

Not sure if I need both but only 70p so got both anyway..

Quote from the review on aria site..".......Worth mentioning that this comes with an RJ11-RJ11 cable but doesn't know anything about BT plugs. So you're fine if you have a phone like my cheapo DECT that has an RJ11 socket and a RJ11-BT cable.

But if your phone has a fixed cable terminating in a BT plug, then you'll need a BT-RJ11 cable (CAB-MOD-RJ from Aria, 49p) and a BT-to-RJ11 converter (ie BT female, RJ11 male) - which I don't think Aria sell?......"

You need a rj11 adapter with a plug that uses the inner 2 contacts, afaik bt uses the outer two.

  • I'm very new to VOIP, having got setup with SIPgate, for incoming, and VoipCheap, for free outgoing calls, only two days ago.

Consequently I'm a bit confused with the products listed in this thread. Basically I want to now use my 3 cordless house phones with Voipcheap. Does the Aria box do this?.

    E&T
(I realise the pc has to be on all the time to make calls).

Yes it does, read my thread above, basically get the box and do as stated above to get ypu up and working. The only issue is you can only have either voipcheap running with the box OR sipgate running with the box, NOT both.

BUT it doesnt stop you from setting up say SIPGATE and then dialing out using the PC via the VOIPCHEAP site or the other way round. The utilites to make these work are on the yealink site (XTENMATE and VOIPBUSTERMATE) although you can only have one working togther, if anyone can get these working together let me know, I want to setup the B2K (aria or whatever box) for sipgate incoming to ring my standard phone, AND also VOIPCHEAP for outgoing calls from the same unit, but so far no luck just bad workaround. P.S. - If your wondering why I want to do this, its because I can then have my PC switched on, automatically log on and be able to recieve and make calls just by using my standard telephone handset, so no more fiddling with keys on the PC.

Eilz (sorry of the above is rushed)

    Eilz, Snap,

Thanks for your help so far, however, I now have the problem you had at the end of November.
I have no ptsn and my dect phone will not switch the BX2 to Voipcheap, using * or #. I can only activate the box by using the pc to get the usb led to light.
How did you get round this problem as no one answered your question on the other forum?

I also have a pap2 device, so I trick the B2K box into thinking there is a PSTN line in the B2K from the pap2 device which allows me to switch over, you can only set it to default to USB using the XTENMATE but not using VOIPCHEAP along with VOIPBUSTERMATE (no option for setting it), however it does work with VOIPBUSTER configured on X-LITE, but you cannot configure VOIPCHEAP into X-Lite, so you back to square one. If you dont have a PSTN line or a PAP2, then my guess is that the device needs some kind of power input from a PSTN line to trick it into thinking one is connected, to then allow you to press *, although I searched high and low for a solution to this without luck which is why I looped it to my pap2. I am pretty sure a small voltage into the PSTN connection in the B2K box will solve the problem, but I am no electronics expert and would need some other help. Just a thought, did you ever have a PSTN line, if so you could try plkugging it in to see if it still has a voltage which may allow you to get the b2k box to work. If you find any more info on how to do this please let us know, there must be some kind of simple device to emulate a pstn dial tone and voltage, or a simple circuit to do it.
