In all honesty, I'd pay a small premium for all my deliveries to be sent by Royal Mail or Parcel Force, as we're rarely at home for deliveries, but at least we can collect failed deliveries from the PO or sorting office in our own town. Collecting from any other carrier's depot involves a round trip of between 20 and 70 miles.
An interesting answer considering Parcel Force is probably one of the most complained about delivery services (including on the vent board). Personally I have never had any trouble with them and would agree with your sentiments, it just seems that whenever they do get it wrong people are jumping up and down making themselves heard (forgetting the other 100 deliveries that arrived on time, to the correct address, without hassle etc.).

However I fear things are about to get much worse.

And if you expect a delivery You can imo expect that delivery anytime from 7AM - 6PM if you don't like it don't order.
In a way I can actually agree with that sentiment too ... if you order stuff then you have to exepct to be inconvenienced either by waiting for it to arrive or going and picking it up.

Like another poster, I try to get all parcels delivered to my partner's work, under his name. There is always someone there to take delivery and the couriers do it in their normal "drop" - so no extra work for the courier, and no extra work from the Receptionist. This does mean that he's had to bring all his Christmas presents with him back from work, but at least I know if he's opened an Amazon parcel :D.

Try reading exactly what is posted, before you put your mouth in to gear!

What's the problem fubar? If he knocks too loud tell him to use the door bell or knock with more respect of your property, but apart from that there's nothing wrong with what he does as long he, builds up to a crecendo rather than being loud from the word go.

Like I say, if he is too loud without first giving you reasonable time to answer the door, tell him. But I have no problem with a delivery driver or postee who after having knocked, to knock louder, then louder still and then call through the letter box.

And the time is irrelevant, you can expect a delivery from the hours I gave, you either accept that and be prepared to go and collect it if you are out or stay in and wait...what other choice do you think you should have? Delivery will be @ 10:30am as you have requested....poppycock!

I've just returned after being away for New Year. We had some receipts from Marks and Spencer posted through our door. They wereboth wet and dirty. We then had our neighbours bringing empty bags and boxes they had found in their gardens. It appears M&S delivery company (I'm unsure who it is) decided to leave £250 of sales goods on our doorstep over the bank holiday weekend. We left our house at 2pm on the Friday so it was either a late afteroon delivery or Saturday morning.

M&S were useless and will do nothing until they talk to the delivery company - which will be Tuesday and will take a day before they will contact us. I asked for the goods to be reordered as the sale goods will be selling out. M&S say this is not possible. I had hoped they would have tried to minimise our loss, as of course we have not bought what we wanted from other stores. Our hour and half on Christmas day has been completey wasted.

I can't believe the courier company left a heap of parcels on our ftont dorstep in clear view of the road. Normally I woudn't be too bothered if M&S replaced the goods. From a quick scan of their site it looks very unlikely we will have our goods replaced as everything appears to be out of stock.

I am just writing as a courier myself. If you order loads of stuff i think its reasonable to either be in, nominate a neighbour or a safe place for the parcel to be left. I earn a very small amount of money for each parcel delivered not for each attempted delivery plus i have to deduct my petrol cost so i cannot afford to take them all back home if noones in!!! I often leave parcels in recycle boxes, behind bins etc, aslong as they cannot be seen from the road i do not see the problem! obviously i do not leave in the recycle box if its bin day.

so spare a thought for the poor delivery driver !

Now I happen to think making a song and dance about delivery to other neighbours is silly (as long as you get your parcel in unopened condition), because it all helps to make the world go round, (I regularly accept parcels for my neighbours

I really don't think its a good idea for delivery guys to assume its ok to leave something with a neighbour. A couple of years ago we had a really evil old man living next door to us and if we had ever had anything delivered to him whilst we were out he would have been liable to have binned it!

Why can't there be a space on all these websites for you to put instructions for the delivery guy if you are out. I have ordered stuff and put "leave in shed" and been very pleased to come home and find my delivery in the shed. However, my sister-in-law had ordered a Sky Gnome before Christmas (£70) and left instructions for the delivery person to leave it in her shed and then padlock the door. He left it in the shed but didn't padlock the door for some reason. Luckily, she came home at lunchtime and the parcel was still there in the shed.

Which doesn't contradict what I wrote. If you get your parcel why sing and dance? If you don't get you are due a refund or replacement.

    Abbieken,

I'm just bringing up this old thread to say I just noticed that you said you found a card when you got home, saying @ No 22.

Well this made me think, the first delivery was bogus, (i.e. the delivery driver did not come to your street at all) the parcel was then delivered later that day to No 22 and a card put through.

At the time you could have asked the lady what time it had arrived, but now it is too late.
  • Anyone know if UPS try to deliver twice in the same day, they dont leave a card..
THE RECEIVER WAS UNAVAILABLE TO SIGN ON THE 1ST DELIVERY ATTEMPT. A 2ND DELIVERY ATTEMPT WILL BE MADE
