Tesco policy is as you said dailyclicker, and it is a nationwide policy not as someone else who works at tesco tried saying. The only thing that is up to the manager is the internet mocs. When you go in tesco you can get about three different policys from different members of staff as not all staff seem to know the same policy, its strange how you can go in one tesco and be told something about the policy and they say its been the same for fifteen years then you get some one else saying different things, then you get told they changed the policy because too many people use coupons, then you get the staff that act like it comes out of their pocket. You sometimes do get nice staff at tesco.
Urm, you know more than tesco staff, I think not, Please go get a job in tesco learn the policies then come back and talk

Edna, no offence but I'm frankly amazed at how all-encompassing your knowledge is when you've said you're part of the petrol station?
Now the gloves are off I suppose. I don't want to sound as though I think I 'know-it-all' but I remember distinctly, from working (at a higher level than floor staff) at another supermarket which is in direct competition with Tesco, that many staff are mis-informed and ill-trained (this is the full spectrum by the way, not just one supermarket). This is by no means a jibe at Tesco because for the majority they're all guilty of it.
How one employee, who works in a petrol station can be privy to the most complicated of coupon policies in Tesco stores nationwide I do not know. Tesco is amongst the worst of the top three for giving out differing information to it's employees, with the store I was working with being second. Being above shop floor level though (only in title) the emails I received did make me think about how these things come around. It's all down to discretion of the store manager, and although store policies ARE moderated carefully where normally possible, this sort of thing happens regularly. Stores which are ruled by an 'iron rod' though - tend to be much more productive because they allow no grey areas?
Managers are allowed to use discretion and advise staff that it is OK to do this, thus making the ones on the receiving end of the 'discretionary decision' losers. Do you think you could spare a moment to explain comprehensively what you meant when you said how it varies nationwide? I'd be interested in how the contents of the official store managers email which gave discretion/allowances based upon each different circumstance have been made available to you? Or do you just know it differs because of general word of mouth?
I appreciate documents are circulated and posted upon boards for all of the staffs' attention, but I'm just at a loss as to how you know the information to the last precise full stop when obviously so many others who actually work the shop floor do not. Perhaps they're too busy to read the board when they're working through a lunch-break, whereas you have the spare time to make the effort. No chocolate, cosmetics or clothes to be bought before xmas day 14! ~ NPower eBay target £541.670 -
I happened upon this thread by accident while looking for the money off coupons. Seeing 'Banned from Tesco' made me read it. After only reading a few posts I could see that 'something wasn't right' and as it only takes a minute to see previous posts from someone so I decided to look.
This lad, by not telling the whole story, got people argueing. He is the culprit - he knew exactly what he was doing was wrong.
There isn't a blanket policy for all Tesco stores on coupons - the store managers decide their own policy.
This lad was wrong in trying to get purchases totally for coupons and not paying any cash (or only a few pence). He bragged on an earlier post how he got £40+ goods for a few pence. No company will tolerate that. I use coupons and I know at lot of other people who do and we have no problems BUT if lots of people abuse the system then it will be stopped and we will all suffer.
I cannot see why anyone is still sympathising with him. He was conning you and has been caught out. Never believe all you read on any forum!!

Listen, I never said my position within tesco, that I moved over to the petrol division before I went on career break, I did 5 years on checkouts so I know my stuff.Edna, no offence but I'm frankly amazed at how all-encompassing your knowledge is when you've said you're part of the petrol station?

Before you discredit me get you find out your facts, and it is in the Bronze for checkout training manual, every staff member has to be trained to, it also appears regulary in team 5 news letters every employee has to read and sign for that they have read, It is the invidiual member staffs responsibility to make sure they know the policies0 -

We have a few posters on here who've worked in these lowly minimum-wage positions within large companies and now suffer the most amazing delusions of grandeur. One guy did a few years on the till in a motorway service station (and incidentally cracked under the strain of the job) and seems to think he's Alan Sugar :rotfl:0 -
The fact that 82much has highlighted a few posts that shows the OP abusing coupons is enough in my opinion. Although it's a little personal to investigate through someone's previous posts and profile the OP, if the OP was more truthful in the first place this could have been avoided. OP also claimed to not own a clubcard when 82much showed they did own one. Yes i've been following this thread although i've skipped the pages in the middle.
Personally if someone pays 20p for shopping worth £20-£30 is taking the biscuit and cramming it in their mouths. But hats off to the OP since I don't know anyone who can dig out £30 worth of coupons, I usually find Tesco's do 30p off here and there for specific items are not the items I want. The staff let you scan them through even if you haven't bought the products are doing you a favour, if you continuously did this then it's unfortunate but in their rights to ban you, they should at least have explained why. But maybe they thought you abused it to a point where it's obvious.
Just shop somewhere else or go to another Tesco's.0
